Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response addresses the task only minimally and tangentially. While the writer attempts to discuss whether water should be provided free of charge, the position is not consistently clear, and the ideas presented are extremely limited and under-developed. For instance, sentences such as 'Many people face this issue poor water can supply there is not stable health in their daily lives' touch upon health and social impacts, but the reasoning remains obscured by severe expression issues. The response tends to over-generalise and drift into disconnected statements regarding government institutions and water management agencies without formulating a sustained argument either agreeing or disagreeing with the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some basic organisation attempted, with the text divided into an introduction, a body paragraph, and a conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are either inadequate, inaccurate, or used in a repetitive manner. Transitional phrases like 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' and 'In conclusion' are present, but they fail to logically connect the sentences because the underlying relationships between thoughts are frequently disjointed. Referencing is often unclear, as seen in phrases like 'that issue is important,' making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of argument from one point to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, employing a limited range that frequently strains the reader's understanding. There are notable word-form, collocation, and choice errors throughout the text, such as 'clean water to supply have direct effect,' 'health secure,' and repeated references to the 'wasa institution.' These noticeable errors cause significant difficulty for the reader and prevent the communication of precise meaning. Less common lexical items are attempted unsuccessfully, leading to awkward phrasing that detracts from the overall quality of the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, relying heavily on simple sentence structures where attempts at more complex formations are consistently faulty. Frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, subject-verb agreement, and missing articles—such as 'clean drink the water to the sick' and 'The wasa institution must be pay the bill'—are pervasive throughout the response. These frequent grammatical errors severely disrupt the flow and often distort the intended meaning, requiring the reader to decode the sentences repeatedly to grasp the point.
