Student answer (Band 6.0)

Water is an essential source for humans and without water a human cannot survive. Having a water supply for clean water is crucial and it should be provided by governments. In my view, i fully agree with this opinion, as it would help public to drink clean water and stay healthy.

In recent times, there are several issues engaged with water. In some countries scarcity of water is an issue, while others are drinking contanimated water. Governments should considered these issues and help citizens, with providing free water supply. For instance, china has free water supply connected in each homes, which is helping public to use and drink clean and crystal water for various purposes. Furthermore, authorities should take control over water and they should evenly distribute it to public to avoid future risk of water shortage.

On the other hand, providing clean water to public reduces health risks such as typhoid or other water deficiency issues like dehydration. For example, many old and young individuals die because of low water consumption or drinking polluted water. Therefore, water supply should be included in evey individuals houses to overcome the risk of serious health issues. Moreover, adding filtered water taps in surroundings can also be beneficial for public, for individuals who are feeling thirsty and are far from their homes can drink water from their surroundings.

To conclude, although there are several problems public facing with water, it can be tackled by implementing few measures with the help of the authorities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether free water should be provided to every home. The writer covers relevant ideas, such as health benefits and government responsibility, but some points remain under-developed or unclear. For instance, the mention of China having a free water supply is stated generally without deeper exploration of how that policy works or directly supporting the core argument. Similarly, the conclusion is very brief and introduces a slightly vague assertion about problems the public faces without tying back comprehensively to the prompt. To move to a higher level, the writer needs to extend and fully develop each supporting argument with more precise explanation and relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance established from the beginning. Information and ideas are generally organized into logical paragraphs, moving from introduction to specific arguments regarding government intervention and health risks. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, such as the abrupt transition in the third paragraph starting with 'On the other hand' which does not accurately signal a counter-argument, since it actually supports the main thesis. Referencing and cohesive devices are occasionally repetitive or mechanical. To achieve a higher band, the writer should ensure that cohesive links are used more naturally and that the logical progression between and within paragraphs is managed with greater precision.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'scarcity', 'evenly distribute', and 'dehydration'. However, there are noticeable vocabulary and spelling errors, such as 'contanimated' instead of contaminated, 'evey' instead of every, and awkward phrasing like 'issues engaged with water' or 'crystal water'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they reflect limitations in word choice, spelling, and collocation. To reach a higher standard, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, pay closer attention to exact word forms, and demonstrate more precise control over less common lexical items and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at complex structures such as conditional or concessive clauses like 'although there are several problems public facing with water'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('help public', 'in each homes'), capitalization slips ('china'), and awkward preposition use or word order ('problems public facing'). Fortunately, these grammatical errors rarely impede communication. To progress further, the writer should increase the frequency of error-free sentences, improve punctuation control, and refine the execution of complex grammatical structures to ensure greater overall accuracy.
