Student answer (Band 5.5)

The availability of clean water is an essential human right and is necessary for maintaining a healthy life. I strongly agree that every household should be provided with a free and reliable water supply, regardless of their financial circumstances.

firstly, clean water is essential for maintaining good health and hygiene.people use clean water for drinking, cocking, bathing and washing homes in our daily routine.if we have not acess of clean water so thatexposed the bacteria, germs and cause the health isuess.poor families can't afford to pay for clean water.it may affect their health and buget also.

for instance,in areas where clean drinking water is not easily available there people may use unsafe water, they use fifferent water sources like rivers and tubewells and obviously that can cause some water-borne diseases like diarrhoea and cholera.

secondly, some low buget families can disturb from this situation, they have also a burden of so many things like education of their childrens they have to pay their high fees and complete their acedamic requirements.they have to buy grocery, electricity and gass bills so water bill are also burden on them.

for example,a middle class families in which all family depend on on person income in this which is very complicated for them.they have also burden of so many things.if our government provide free water door to door that is very benificial for these families.they can save their money for other household things.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether free water should be provided to every home, and maintains this viewpoint throughout the essay. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as the health benefits of clean water and the financial relief free water would bring to low-budget families. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others, moving into the territory of a solid score in this area while also displaying characteristics of the lower band. For example, the point about employment creation at the end of the essay is somewhat tangential and under-developed, lacking strong connection to the core debate of water as a basic human right. To reach the next level, all main arguments need equal extension, supported by more precise and globally relevant examples rather than repetitive assertions about family budgets.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates an overall coherent arrangement with a clear stance and identifiable paragraph structure, satisfying the baseline requirements for organization. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by mechanical or repetitive cohesive devices. Words like 'secondly', 'for instance', and 'in addition' are used frequently, but referencing between sentences is occasionally unclear, such as the abrupt transitions between paragraphs discussing family budgets and time wastage. Paragraphing is attempted, but paragraph boundaries and internal logical flow could be managed much more skillfully. To progress, the writer needs to employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices naturally without over-reliance on basic listing transitions, ensuring smoother logical bridges from one paragraph to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The writer uses an adequate vocabulary range to communicate ideas about health, hygiene, and household budgets. Less common items and phrases are attempted, such as 'water-borne diseases', 'financial circumstances', and 'beneficial', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, spelling, and collocation. Examples of lexical slips include 'cocking' instead of cooking, 'acess' instead of access, 'isuess' instead of issues, 'buget' instead of budget, and 'gass' instead of gas. Furthermore, phrases like 'low buget families can disturb from this situation' demonstrate awkward word choices that cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the vocabulary must show greater precision, correct spelling, and more natural collocations with fewer intrusive errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and occasional compound structures, while attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing capitalisation at the beginnings of sentences, run-on sentences with comma splices (e.g., 'poor families can't afford to pay for clean water.it may affect...'), and incorrect prepositional usage or verb forms ('if we have not acess of clean water so thatexposed the bacteria'). Agreement and article usage also show persistent inaccuracies. These frequent errors require the reader to occasionally puzzle over the intended meaning. To improve, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of complex structures with greater accuracy, alongside careful punctuation and control over basic sentence boundaries.
