Student answer (Band 5.5)
all over the world, water is the basic need and right of mankind. the supply of clean water with free of cost is necessary for everyone. i agree with this statement as this is very bacis right of every human but under some regulation.
Reason behind this that humans have some basic needs like air, water and food that are avaliable on earth naturally. water is essintial for cooking, drinking and other household purposes like cleaning and washing. lack of water can cause seriouse diseases like typiod as some countries faceing these problems as well. the supply of clean water free to homes is mendatory because its people basic right as they pay tax to govermnet but should be regulated. in africa for example there are some countries those give drinkable water but in limited amount required for basic needs that is good for poor families, cannot afford paid water and governments sholud charge if water usage exceed from limit with control water wastage.
if the water supply to home is free is can cause some problems. as we know government need a infrastructure to supply water to homes and need skilled workers to maintain this structure to work properly. this need money to run smoothly. if it is free it make difficult for government which may increase in taxes . another reason is if supply is unlimited and free than people use it carelessly which can cause water shortage which is main problem in many countries.
to be conclude a balanced apporach is that water supply should be free but in limited amount which is basic right , over the limit it should be charged to avoid water wastage and to manage water suuply infrastructure.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your response successfully addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear position that you agree with the statement under certain regulations. You present relevant main ideas, such as water being a basic human right and the necessity of avoiding water wastage, which pushes your performance toward higher bands. However, some ideas remain under-developed or briefly stated. For instance, when you mention the example of African countries providing limited drinkable water, this point is not fully extended or explained with deeper analysis. Similarly, the counterargument regarding the financial burden on governments and infrastructure maintenance is introduced but could be expanded further to fully explore both sides of the issue. To reach the next level, ensure that every main idea is thoroughly supported with extended explanations and more robust examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your essay demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure your ideas into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct points, such as the benefits of free water versus the potential problems of infrastructure costs and wastage. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty. For example, transitional phrases like 'Reason behind this that' and 'to be conclude' lack grammatical accuracy and smooth integration. Referencing and logical progression within paragraphs can also be unsteady, making the flow occasionally abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of natural cohesive devices and ensure that each sentence links logically to the next without relying on repetitive transitional patterns.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main ideas about water supply and government regulations clearly. You attempt some less common vocabulary items, such as 'infrastructure', 'wastage', and 'balanced approach'. However, your writing contains numerous noticeable lexical errors in word choice, word form, and spelling, such as 'bacis', 'essintial', 'seriouse', 'typiod', 'faceing', 'mendatory', and 'govermnet'. These inaccuracies reflect a limited resource and occasionally create strain for the reader. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary, improve your control over word forms, and eliminate spelling mistakes by carefully proofreading your work.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
Your response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating that you can construct multi-clause sentences such as 'as we know government need a infrastructure to supply water to homes and need skilled workers to maintain this structure to work properly'. However, your control over grammatical structures is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including missing articles ('a infrastructure', 'people basic right'), subject-verb agreement ('government need', 'water usage exceed'), and prepositions ('free of cost' instead of 'free of charge'). While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to detract from the overall quality of your writing. To improve, work on mastering fundamental grammatical rules such as article usage, pluralisation, and verb-subject agreement.
