Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that, as clean water is the fundamental right of every human so it should be accessible to every home without paying a single penny. While it is true that it requires recurring funds. I firmly agree with the view that every home should have clean water supply without any charges due to several compelling reasons. This essay will not only elaborate on my viewpoint but also provide relevent examples to support it.

To commence with, one of the most significant reason is that water directly affects the human health. This can be attributed to the fact that 40% of diseases come from the intake of low quality water. In other words, Drinking comtaminated water caused deadly diseases which are not easily to cure. For instance, water saturated with metals like lead and mercury disturbs the nervous system.

Moreover, another crucial factor to consider is that taking shower with tainted water causes multiple dermal issues. Furthermore, sometimes toxic water emits fumes which caused lungs and breathing problems. A particularly good example of this is using the bleeching water for showering, even less in concentration, causes rashes in skin. The accessibility of clean water for everyone gives the zone of social equality. Low-income families get equal access as water is not commercial resource, it's basic need to survive.

In conclusion, although some may argue that it required budget to provide clean water at domestic level, i strongly believe that supply of clean water must be free of cost for every home because of the reasons discussed above. Therefore, Government should implement the feasible resourses to fulfil the basis rights of residents.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether water should be provided free of charge, and it maintains this viewpoint throughout. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as the direct link between water quality and public health, and the promotion of social equality. However, some parts of the response are more fully developed than others; for instance, the point regarding social equality is introduced near the end without sufficient extension or supporting evidence. To move to a higher level, you need to ensure that every main idea is fully elaborated with detailed examples and comprehensive reasoning rather than relying on brief assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement and follows a recognisable structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct arguments about health impacts and social equality. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'To commence with' and 'Moreover' are used mechanically, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun shift and abrupt transitions between sentences in the second body paragraph. Progression is present, but it lacks the smooth, fluid links required for higher bands. To improve, you should focus on varying your cohesive devices and ensuring logical transitions that connect sentences and paragraphs more naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'fundamental right', 'contaminated', and 'dermal issues'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, collocation, and word form, such as 'commercial resource' instead of 'a commercial resource', 'bleeching water' instead of 'bleached water', 'resourses' instead of 'resources', and 'basis rights' instead of 'basic rights'. Furthermore, spelling errors like 'comtaminated' and 'relevent' detract from the precision of the writing. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they reflect the limitations typical of this level. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on precision in word choice, correct collocations, and careful proofreading to eliminate spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting complex structures with relative clauses and conditional elements. However, there are several errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. Examples include fragment sentences and awkward phrasing such as 'It is often argued that, as clean water is the fundamental right of every human so it should be...', missing articles like 'it requires recurring funds' or 'gives the zone of social equality', and incorrect prepositional usage or verb patterns such as 'which are not easily to cure' instead of 'which are not easy to cure'. Punctuation errors are also present, such as missing commas or capitalization issues. While these errors rarely impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching higher levels of grammatical control.
