Student answer (Band 5.5)
I completely agree with the proposal that every should be included in free of cost water supply. Not only because it is a basic human right, but also, this will force usu to find ways to solve the problem of fresh water shortage.
When people do not have access to fresh drinking water, they usually go for partially filtered or completely unfiltered water from various unhygenic sources. Such as, nearby ponds, rivers or lakes. Urban people often end up drinking unfiltered tap water. This results in many water carried diseases. For instance, diarrhea, typhoid, cholerae etc. This is a big issue for many developing countries. Because, many people simply do not know how to filter impure water. Specially, lower class people of most developing countries do not have the money to buy fresh water or basic water filters. Which results in these diseases. Sometimes, they turn into epidemics in those areas costing many lives.
As fresh water supply is often treated as a 'luxuary' which one can only have if he or she is born in a first world country, scientists are not enough concerned to solve this problem for every living human being. Moreover, governments are also not very concerned to solve this issue. Partially because, water tax also benefits them. But even that can not promise fresh water in many countries. Every city dweller in Bangladesh pays water tax with their monthly house rent only to get fresh looking dirty tap water. Which often contains harsh chemicals which end up ruining their skin and hair.
I firmly believe, governments should pay more attention to solve this issue. They should invest more to develop systems which will promise fresh to every individual. Already many country is trying to turn raw sea water into fresh drinking water. This is a good sign. Water is a human right. So, everyone deserves access to fresh water.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, presenting a clear position that you completely agree with the proposition of free water supply. Relevant ideas are introduced, such as the human right aspect and the pressure on governments to solve freshwater shortages. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack full extension. For instance, the claim that free water supply will 'force us to find ways to solve the problem' is left largely unexplained. Similarly, the discussion surrounding developing countries and water taxes could be expanded with more precise elaboration. To move to a higher level, you should ensure that every main idea is fully supported and explored with clearer examples and deeper reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance maintained throughout the response. Paragraphing is used to separate distinct points, such as the health consequences of impure water in the second paragraph and governmental responsibilities in the third. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical, and referencing is not always completely clear. For example, starting multiple sentences with 'Which' or 'Because' creates choppy transitions and repetitive cohesive patterns. To achieve a higher band, you need to use a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother progression between sentences and paragraphs without relying on fragmented sentence structures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
Your vocabulary range is adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your central arguments regarding water scarcity and public health. You attempt less common vocabulary items such as 'epidemics', 'luxuary', and 'chemicals', but there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that occasionally distract the reader. For instance, 'every should be included in free of cost water supply' contains unnatural phrasing, 'unhygenic' is misspelled, 'water carried diseases' should be 'waterborne diseases', and 'luxuary' contains a spelling error. To reach the next level, you need to minimize word-choice inaccuracies, improve control over collocations, and ensure correct spelling of less common words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in sentence structure and punctuation, such as sentence fragments ('Such as, nearby ponds, rivers or lakes.', 'Specially, lower class people...', 'Which results in these diseases.') that impede smooth reading. Furthermore, there are errors in subject-verb agreement and word forms, such as 'force usu to find' and 'Already many country is trying'. To progress to a higher band, you must reduce basic structural errors, eliminate sentence fragments by connecting dependent clauses properly, and demonstrate more consistent accuracy across a variety of sentence patterns.
