Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the contemporary era, pure water has emerged as a profoundly contentious issue. While a segment of people believes that water should be supplied to every home without any charge, I partially agree with this notion as this development has both advantages and disadvantages.
To commence with, a compelling reason supporting my view point is that every home should be supplied pure water without charging any dues to them. This is primarily because access to water is a fundamental human right. Every families have a need of fresh water to utilize for their households needs. For example, if Government make policy to charge them against water supply then it will become financially burden on their expenditures. This clearly illustrates how charging bill enables individuals to encounter certain concerns about water usage.
On the other hand, authorities can implement a small amount of water supply charge as to ensure safe and effective use of water. This is primarily because their are limited resources of pure water, while charging them a tiny amount can make individuals to restrict from waste of water. For example, when people have to submit bill for using water, it will definitely reduce the consumption of water. This instance vividly highlights the how charging bill can contributes significantly to preserve water from wastage. By adopting this measure, both the individuals and the governments can accomplish superior outcomes.
In conclusion, water is a basic need of every family. Therefore, it should be argued that water should supplied free of charge because it meet fundamental requirements. I believe that a small amount should be charged to limit the water usage. Therefore, this should be actively promoted in the modern societies.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, acknowledging both sides of the issue before stating a partial agreement. While the main ideas are relevant, some are more fully developed than others. For instance, the argument regarding water as a human right is introduced with the point that 'it will become financially burden on their expenditures', but the explanation remains somewhat repetitive and lacks deeper extension. To reach a higher level, the arguments need to be more thoroughly explored with broader societal implications and more detailed examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical structure that is easy to follow. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as 'To commence with', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion', which satisfies the standard for clear sequencing. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and referencing is not always completely smooth, which bridges the gap into the next higher band where transitions feel more natural and unobtrusive. Improving the variety of cohesive links would enhance the flow further.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their thoughts on a social issue. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'contentious issue', 'fundamental human right', and 'consumption', demonstrating a reasonable breadth of terms. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, word form, and collocation, such as 'view point' instead of viewpoint, 'financially burden' instead of a financial burden, and 'submit bill' instead of pay a bill. These errors do not impede communication, but they reflect a limitation in precise lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures such as conditional and subordinate clauses. However, there are noticeable grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'Every families have' instead of every family has, and article errors such as 'if Government make policy' instead of if the government makes a policy. Preposition and pattern errors also occur, such as 'charge them against water supply' and 'restrict from waste of water'. These errors occasionally cause mild strain for the reader, though they rarely completely impede communication.
