Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words, containing only 65 words in total. Because of this severe limitation, the response addresses the task only partially and superficially. While the writer attempts to present a position on whether free water supply should be provided to every home, the ideas are severely limited and under-developed. The supporting points regarding country health and positive attitudes toward the law are stated briefly without any elaboration, examples, or extension. To achieve a higher band, the writer must fully develop their position with well-supported arguments and meet the required word count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The writing demonstrates some organization, but there is no clear overall progression due to the extreme brevity of the text. The response consists of only two run-on sentences presented as a single block of text, lacking proper paragraphing entirely. Cohesive devices are minimal and mechanical, with repetitive use of basic conjunctions like 'and' to connect disparate ideas. Referencing and logical sequencing are compromised because the arguments are not expanded into distinct, structured points. To improve in this area, the student needs to organize ideas into separate paragraphs with clear topic sentences and use a wider range of cohesive devices to link sentences and paragraphs logically.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, containing noticeable errors that reflect a lack of precision. There are several word choice, form, and spelling errors, such as 'arugued' instead of 'argued', 'belives' instead of 'believes', and awkward phrasing like 'must be get fresh and clean water'. The range of vocabulary is narrow, relying on basic terms without demonstrating an ability to use less common lexical items or appropriate collocations. To reach a higher band, the student should expand their vocabulary range, use precise word forms, and eliminate spelling and lexical errors that hinder smooth reading.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on basic, faulty sentence patterns. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tense usage, and agreement, such as 'many people arugued that they must be get' and 'another is it also help'. Punctuation is also problematic, including missing spaces after full stops, like in the phrase 'country.I am completely agree'. The attempt to form complex sentences results in significant structural errors and awkward syntax. To improve, the student needs to practice using a wider variety of accurate sentence structures, improve control over verb tenses, and pay careful attention to punctuation and basic sentence boundaries.
