Student answer (Band 6.0)

One of the basic necessities is the clean water availability to human being's. That is why every house should have a facility of water and it should be served by authorities without any charges. I agree with this notion; I shall discuss its reasons and also draw a suitable conclusion for it.

To begin with, there is a considerable proportion of rights for human beings on earth; additionally, one of them is the clean water. Furthermore, the water without any pollutants and hazardous chemicals is required for the daily usage. Moreover, individuals are used this water for bathing, washing, sweeping and showering. Apart from that, they also use it to drink to their animals and other birds. Despite these necessities, If they have no supply of water than there life would be in a danger.

In additon, supplying water to societies is the duty of managements of districts, they may use several procedures to make sure of water supply to people. However, only water facility is not imperative for houses, there is an another factor which is cost. Additionally, not every house is able to afford the costy clean water, due to the fact that a handful of nations live hand to mouth and they hardly earn their livelihood. That is why water supply without any charges would prove beneficial for them. A prime instance is those countries, especially Pakistan, India and Bangladesh where nations reside without water, due to the fact that they have not enough strength to afford water. In this regard, goverments and other authorities mitigate this situation by providing a free water facility to them.

To put it briefly, although water is a basic need of human being's in all nations, its access may limit to some areas. From my perspective, it is a responsibility of goverments and other departments to make sure of the supply of water to those who need it. Nonetheless, this service should be a free of cost because not everyone is able to afford it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position agreeing that water should be provided free of charge, and supports this view with relevant arguments regarding basic human rights and economic affordability. However, some ideas remain under-developed or rely on broad generalisations rather than deep elaboration. For instance, the mention of countries like Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh briefly supports the affordability argument, but the explanation lacks specific depth or thorough extension. The main points are generally relevant and cover the prompt adequately, though pushing this to a higher level would require more fully sustained and thoroughly explored supporting arguments throughout the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear progression of ideas from the introduction through to the conclusion, successfully bridging the gap into higher bands. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate distinct points, such as basic necessities and economic considerations. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas together, though referencing and linking can sometimes feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on 'Additionally' and 'Furthermore'. To reach the highest level of cohesion, the writer would need to integrate cohesive devices more naturally and invisibly, ensuring that relationships between sentences and paragraphs flow with greater subtlety and precision.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating a sufficient range to communicate basic ideas about human rights and water supply. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'necessities', 'pollutants', and 'affordability', but this is accompanied by noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, form, and collocation, such as writing 'costy' instead of 'costly', 'human being's' with an incorrect apostrophe, and 'nations reside without water' where 'populations' or 'communities' would be more appropriate. These lexical slips and awkward collocations do not heavily impede overall communication, but they restrict the response to this level, as greater precision and control over less common lexical items are required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as conditional and subordinate clauses. However, there are persistent errors in grammar and punctuation, including articles ('the clean water availability'), plurals ('human being's'), subject-verb agreement ('individuals are used this water'), and prepositional or structural patterns ('there life would be in a danger'). While these errors are present, they are not overwhelming and rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the train of thought. Achieving a stronger grammatical profile would require a higher frequency of error-free complex sentences and more consistent control over articles, singular-plural consistency, and punctuation.
