Student answer (Band 6.5)
Clean water is a basic human need that must be free of cost. It should be accessible for people despite any financial or geographical differences. I highly agree with this view because of its significance in terms of health as well as economic benefits.
Water serves as a major human necessity that keeps humans alive. Drinking water is a highest normal human intake that directly affects their health. Access to clean water can protect them from getting any potential health concerns. Therefore, it is vital for governments to guarantee the provision of water free of any cost in order to protect outburst of severe dieseases. Africa is a quintessential example for this case for having higher disease burden just because of inaccess to clean drinking water.
Moreover, such basic access also has enormous economic advantages. Guaranteeing free of charge clean water to every home in the municipalities or countries not only makes people healthy, but it can also lessen the ratio of diseases that can eventually stablilize the overall budgets of higher authorities. Not only does it helps governments manage the healthcare resources efficiently, it also gives them the opportunity to start working on other projects that needs urgent attention. Moreover, access to free water also creates less burden on individuals' finances, which may help them spend on other necessities efficiently.
In conclusion, supply of clean drinking water offers multiple benefits to individuals as well as to governments. Therefore, I largely agree that it must be make sure to grant this access to every home so that a healthy home and a wealthy society could be perished.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear, consistent position throughout, arguing strongly in favour of free clean water for every home. The main ideas are well-extended and supported with relevant reasoning, such as the public health benefits and the economic advantages for governments. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalise in parts, such as the brief mention of Africa as a quintessential example, which lacks deeper contextual exploration. Some ideas are slightly more developed than others, placing the response solidly at this level. To reach higher tiers, the arguments could be supported with more specific, nuanced examples rather than broad assertions.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
There is a clear logical organisation and progression throughout the essay, with each paragraph serving a distinct purpose in developing the overall thesis. The writer uses cohesive devices adequately, such as transitional phrases like "Moreover" and "In conclusion," which help to guide the reader through the argument. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the introduction, two body paragraphs, and conclusion clearly. However, referencing and cohesive links can occasionally feel slightly mechanical, preventing the flow from appearing entirely natural and effortless. Stronger integration of cohesive elements without relying heavily on standard signposting words would elevate the structural fluidity.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating central ideas about public health, economics, and government responsibilities. There are successful attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as "quintessential," "municipalities," and "necessity." However, some vocabulary choices and word forms contain inaccuracies that reflect a developing lexical control. For instance, phrases like "protect outburst of severe dieseases" contain spelling errors ("dieseases") and awkward collocations ("protect outburst"), while the conclusion features an erroneous word choice with "could be perished" instead of "flourish." These occasional errors do not impede communication, but they highlight the need for greater precision in lexical selection and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an ability to construct multi-clause sentences such as "Guaranteeing free of charge clean water to every home... not only makes people healthy, but it can also lessen..." There are some errors in grammar and punctuation present throughout the text, including article omissions and minor agreement issues, such as "projects that needs urgent attention" and "it also helps... not only does it helps." Despite these occasional mistakes, the control of grammar and punctuation is sufficient so that they rarely impede communication. To move up, the writer needs to increase the frequency of error-free complex sentences and eliminate minor agreement and prepositional slips.
