Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that access to pure water is a basic human right. so every home should have a supply of water that is provide free of cost. I partly agree and disagree with this startemant because there are main benefits when filter water is free espacially, poor people drink pure water without any cost and health benefits, however when water is free some people waste water.

There are two main reason why I agree with this statement. Firstly, every home should have a water supply without any charges sopeople use and drink pure water easily. This is mainly because some persons cannot affort to clean water. As a result, they use and drink dirty water. futhermore, when people can drink the filter water they have many benefits. This is because they drink a pure water. As a result, they donot need any medicen and go to doctor for checkup.

However, the main reason why I disagree with this view is that some people waste a lot of water because they donot pay the fill of water so some people negative use of free watch. For example, In my cononey one uncle is wasted of water because they now that the water is free of cost. some people say that why you waste water but they cannot understand.

In conclusion, I partly agree and disagree with is statement because poor people drink pure water without any cost and health benefits. however when water is free some people waste water. that why I partly agree and disagree

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on whether free water should be provided to every home, though some ideas are more fully developed than others. The writer attempts to cover both sides of the argument, mentioning health benefits for poor people and the counterargument regarding water wastage. However, the supporting ideas remain somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the points about health benefits and avoiding doctor visits are stated multiple times without sufficient elaboration or concrete examples. To reach a higher band, the ideas would need to be more thoroughly extended and supported with deeper analysis rather than restated in similar terms.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at paragraphing, separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'However', and 'In conclusion' are employed to signpost the progression of ideas. Nevertheless, cohesion is at times mechanical and referencing is not always clear, as seen in the repetitive phrasing linking the conclusion directly back to the introduction. To improve, the writer could use a wider range of referencing words and ensure smoother transitions between sentences to create a more natural flow throughout the essay.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors in word choice and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items, such as 'startemant', 'affort', 'medicen', and 'fill', but these contain significant spelling and morphological errors. Collocations are sometimes awkward, such as 'negative use of free watch'. To achieve a higher band, the writer needs to expand their lexical range, pay closer attention to word formation, and ensure that spelling conventions are applied accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside some attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are noticeable errors in verb tenses, articles, and pluralisation, such as 'there are main benefits when filter water is free', 'some persons cannot affort to clean water', and 'they now that the water is free'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capitalisation at the start of sentences and run-on structures. To progress, the writer should practice forming accurate complex sentences and monitor basic grammatical rules such as subject-verb agreement and article usage more carefully.
