Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the contemporary world, the basic need of humans include the having clean water for the drinking or any other purpose of human activities. Therefore every individual or family need to have free of cost water supply. In my opinion I significantly agree with the statement because, water is basic thing that everyone needed on daily, and public can not afford it as goverment applies tax on water.
Firstly, water is basic need of people, without water nobody can survive on the earth. Today every house pay the water bills, but there are some people who can't afford such kind of bills to pay. Due to poor background they unable to pay water bills, but as a human they also need the water. So government should decline the charges of water, and provide water without any charges.
On the other hand, due to industralization water is more polluted as compare with the past some years water quality. Many organisation don't follow the rules of waste managment while disposing the byproduct produced during the product manufaturing process. Firms mixed this high chemical contain byproduct with water that present in the river. Which causes the many diseases. The only solution to reduce the water pollution is that authorities needs to strictly follow the rules.
In conclusion, due to industrilization water pollution is increased over the years and government need to take some strict action on water pollution, because clean water is the fundamental need of individual, and that should be free because eveyone can't able to pay such high bills that required on the daliy basis.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favour of providing free clean water to every home. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, reflecting a partial treatment of the task. While the writer mentions the inability of poor people to afford bills, the explanation remains brief and repetitive. Furthermore, the third paragraph introduces a tangential discussion regarding industrial water pollution and waste management rules, which distracts from the core debate about whether water should be provided free of charge. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to present fully developed, relevant arguments that directly support the main thesis without drifting into secondary environmental issues, and expand on the socioeconomic impacts of water pricing with specific examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic organizational structure with clear paragraphing, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the overall progression of ideas is hindered by abrupt transitions and limited logical flow. Cohesive devices are used somewhat repetitively or inaccurately, such as relying heavily on basic linkers like 'Firstly' and 'On the other hand' without always connecting the ideas smoothly. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the third paragraph where the discussion shifts abruptly from domestic water bills to industrial pollution. To improve, the writer should ensure each paragraph builds logically upon the previous one and employ a wider, more natural range of cohesive devices to connect sentences and paragraphs seamlessly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for expressing basic ideas. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'industrialisation' and 'fundamental need', but these attempts are accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word formation, such as 'high chemical contain byproduct' instead of 'high chemical content byproducts' and 'everyone can't able to pay'. Spelling errors and awkward phrasing are also present, which occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to expand their lexical range, demonstrate greater precision in word choice and collocations, and minimize errors in spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, relying primarily on simple sentences and basic compound forms. Attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to numerous grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('every individual or family need', 'water present'), articles ('the basic need of humans', 'as goverment applies tax'), and prepositional usage. Frequent errors in grammar and punctuation can cause difficulty and strain for the reader. To progress, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures and improve the accuracy of basic grammatical patterns, verb forms, and punctuation.
