Student answer (Band 6.0)

An easy access to water, in all aspects, is the basic human right. Without charging a single penny, clean water must be provided free to every home, no matter rural or urban region. I strongly agree with this thought due to several compelling reasons.

Water is considered the basis for all life processes including cooking, cleaning, drinking, irrigation, and renewable energy source. Individuals having an easy access to free water can fulfil these daily chores without stressing over its shortage. Morover, the cleaning characteristics of water can protect people from a variety of health hazards and madical conditions. Not having enough water at home can overall effect the daily routine of citizens. In a world, where the elevated standards of living are already a matter of great concern for people to live and survive at a good place in a country, shortage of this primitive need can prove to be daunting.

Every single home of all the nations must be provided with a generous supply of water, if not daily, then a weekly fullfilment of storage tanks could do the work for them. Despite population boom, large cities are more vulnerable to having a free availability of clean water. A strong government intervention would require in this case. water and power developmental authorities of each district or state should take strict action regarding the matter. Central government must subsidies underground wter channel that can be opened on specific hours for the public to store clean water. Rural areas must also be funded with contructing tube wells so that villagers can easily appraoch cost-free clean water. The best example of this comes from the villages of Africa where the rural government assisted the people financially in building complimentary storage dams and wells.

In conclusion, from my perspective, as all life pursuits require fresh and clean water, every human has a right to own free water supplies in their home. It can significantly be only possible through a sheer government intervention with proper subsidities and funding.

Overall6.0

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by clearly presenting a position and maintaining it throughout the essay, which earns a solid performance in this area. Ideas regarding why free water access is necessary are extended and supported, such as discussing daily chores, hygiene, and government intervention through subsidies. However, there is a slight tendency to over-generalise in parts, such as claiming that 'every single home of all the nations must be provided with a generous supply of water' without fully exploring potential economic counterarguments or logistical challenges. To reach a higher level, the ideas would need to be more fully developed and balanced with a broader perspective, avoiding sweeping generalisations.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay demonstrates a clear overall progression and coherent arrangement of ideas, meeting the requirements of the lower band fully while exhibiting some elements of higher bands. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, body arguments regarding daily life and government action, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Morover', 'Despite population boom', and 'In conclusion', though some referencing and transitions are slightly mechanical or faulty, such as the abrupt sentence 'A strong government intervention would require in this case.' To achieve a higher standard, the flow between sentences and paragraphs needs to be smoother, with more sophisticated and less intrusive linking devices.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common lexical items such as 'renewable energy source', 'health hazards', and 'population boom'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and collocation that prevent the score from being higher. Examples include 'An easy access' instead of 'Easy access', 'madical' (spelling error for medical), 'effect' instead of 'affect', 'subsidies underground wter channel' (word form and spelling errors), and 'contructing tube wells'. These lexical slips and spelling mistakes show a limited control over less common vocabulary, meaning the vocabulary range remains minimally adequate and occasionally causes slight hesitation for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response shows a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied structures like conditional and relative clauses. Nevertheless, frequent grammatical errors are present throughout the text. Examples include article misuse ('An easy access to water', 'in a world, where'), prepositional errors ('access of' or issues within patterns), and passive voice construction errors such as 'A strong government intervention would require in this case' instead of 'would be required'. Additionally, issues with subject-verb agreement and punctuation persist. These errors represent a pattern of frequent slips in complex structures, aligning with a performance where grammar mistakes are noticeable and require the reader to occasionally decode the intended meaning.
