Student answer (Band 5.0)
Access to clean water is a basic human right that every human deserves and this shouldnt even be a topic up for debate whatsover no human is more superior to having more rights than any other human wether its clean water or education and it surprises me that some people are ignorent enough to even think that it isnt a basic human right for example NESTLE which is very ironic coming from a water company that owns hundreds if not thousands of other branches of diffrent brands for diffrent purposes with billions of dollars to spare to the ones in need for clean fresh water
my take on this is hot because the same people that are voting have the right and privlage to vote and instead of using this advantage to pillar those in need they use that privlage of voting against those poor people that barely have the right to discuss things that are basic human rights
and the same people that get to decide who deserves what are the ones who are responsible of unclean water in small and dangered countries because of the corruption and the disease of always wanting more than what they already have
so in conclusion i think that everyone deserves clean water to make food clean with and everything its used for and its not a topic that should be up for debate it shouldnt even be normalised to be going around saying that it isnt a human right it truly is a human right that everyone deserves

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response partially addresses the task and attempts to present a position on whether free water should be provided to every home, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. Furthermore, the length requirement is not met; the response contains 247 words, falling 3 words short of the 250-word minimum, with 9 words copied directly from the prompt excluded from the final word count. The content tends to stray into vague accusations about corruption and corporate greed, such as the mention of Nestle, rather than systematically discussing the prompt's core economic and social arguments. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to fully extend and support their ideas with relevant examples while strictly satisfying the minimum word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some basic organisation attempted, but the text lacks a clear overall progression and suffers from a lack of standard paragraphing. The entire response consists of one massive block of text, or a few unstructured runs, making it difficult for the reader to follow a logical development of arguments. Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or repetitive, with sentences linked loosely by basic conjunctions like 'and' or 'so' without appropriate transitional phrases. To improve, the writer must divide the essay into distinct, logical paragraphs and use a wider range of cohesive devices to guide the reader smoothly through the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task, featuring frequent spelling and word choice errors such as 'shouldnt', 'whatsover', 'wether', 'ignorent', and 'privlage'. While the student attempts some less common words, such as 'corruption' and 'surprises', noticeable errors in word form and spelling emerge throughout the text. These lexical slips occasionally cause slight difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer must expand their vocabulary range, demonstrate greater precision in word choice and collocations, and eliminate basic spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammatical structures are severely constrained by a lack of punctuation, as the entire writing sample is essentially a run-on sentence devoid of periods. There is a very limited range of structures used, and basic sentence boundaries are ignored, leading to frequent errors in punctuation and sentence construction that cause difficulty for the reader. While simple ideas are expressed, the absence of proper stops, commas, and capitalisation compromises syntactic control. To progress, the writer needs to use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms with accurate punctuation, ensuring that sentences are properly punctuated and structurally sound.
