Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response sits at a low level because it is severely restricted by length, containing only 90 words which falls well short of the 250-word minimum requirement. Additionally, 13 words copied directly from the task prompt were not counted. While the writer manages to express a basic agreement with the prompt regarding free water supply, the ideas remain minimal and lack any real development or supporting examples. The response addresses the task only partially, as the discussion wanders off into vague historical references about kings rather than thoroughly debating the socio-economic implications of providing free municipal water.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
The text suffers from a lack of proper organizational structure. It is presented as a single, unformatted block of text without paragraphing, which makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused; the writer relies on a continuous run-on sentence joined by coordinating conjunctions like 'and' and conversational fillers like 'Thankyou for ask me that kind of question'. Although there is a general attempt to link thoughts together, the lack of punctuation and clear signposting means the overall arrangement lacks logical flow and coherence.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, utilizing everyday terms such as 'clean water', 'basic human right', and 'government'. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as 'ask me' instead of 'asking me', 'vote rate' instead of 'approval rating' or 'voter turnout', and 'dissicion' which is misspelled. The writer also demonstrates poor word choice and collocation with phrases like 'every turn of the life'. While the language is simple enough to convey a rudimentary meaning, the restricted range and frequent inaccuracies constrain the lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
Grammatical control is weak, characterized by a very limited range of structures. The entire response essentially consists of a single, highly convoluted run-on sentence with multiple clauses strung together incorrectly. There are frequent errors in punctuation, capitalization, and verb forms, such as 'the government took action' mixed with present tense references, and incorrect prepositions like 'in our past many years age'. These recurring mechanical and structural errors cause difficulty for the reader, reflecting basic control over sentence boundaries and grammatical patterns.
