Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response responds to the task only minimally. Furthermore, please note that 18 words copied from the task prompt were not counted, and the response sits at a total word count of 131 words, meaning it falls severely short of the mandatory 250-word minimum. The writer attempts to present a position by stating they partly agree, but the ideas remain very limited and under-developed. The arguments regarding government subsidies and water consumption are stated rather than extended or supported with clear explanations or relevant examples. Consequently, the development of the topic is restricted, and the overall address to the prompt remains partial and superficial.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some organisation evident in the attempt to structure the essay into distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, there is no clear overall progression throughout the text. Cohesive devices are either inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, with problematic transitions such as 'On the one hand' and 'One the other hand' leading into underdeveloped thoughts. Referencing is frequently unclear, and the mechanical flow causes the argument to stall. While paragraphing is attempted, the overall arrangement lacks the smooth logical progression required for higher bands.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, showing a limited range that struggles to convey precise meaning. There are noticeable lexical errors, such as spelling mistakes ('Acees', 'espacillay', 'mantaing', 'haygine', 'consumpition'), incorrect word forms ('manufacture in lowest money'), and awkward word choices ('lowest families'). These errors strain the reader and cause some difficulty in fully grasping the intended message. The writer attempts some topic-specific terms like 'government' and 'consumption', but the overall lexical control remains restricted to elementary levels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The writing demonstrates a very limited range of sentence structures, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing or incorrect auxiliary verbs ('should have supply', 'should be provide'), punctuation mistakes, incorrect prepositions ('acees the clean water'), and poor subject-verb agreement. These frequent errors distort meaning in places and cause ongoing difficulty for the reader throughout the short text. Control of basic sentence patterns and word order requires substantial improvement.
