Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You clearly agree that clean water should be supplied to every home, and you give relevant reasons: water is essential for survival, and charging for it could disadvantage poorer households. The point that people should avoid wasting water also adds a related consideration. However, the response only partially develops the task. It does not explain clearly why the supply should be free, how this could be funded, or whether free access should apply to unlimited use. The claim that the government provides clean water in your country is not supported with a specific example, and several ideas are repeated rather than extended. Develop your position with a clear explanation and one or two concrete examples to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a recognisable progression from the importance of water, to waste, and then to the effect of paid water on poorer people. Linking expressions such as “firstly,” “furthermore,” and “moreover” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the main points are not clearly separated. Several transitions are repeated or do not signal a new, distinct point, and references such as “these water” and “they” make it difficult to identify what is being discussed. Organise the essay into an introduction, separate body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Use fewer, more precise linking phrases and make each paragraph develop one central idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a small set of relevant words, including “clean water,” “government,” “poor,” and “middle class,” so the general subject is usually identifiable. It also attempts phrases such as “precious gift” and “save water, save life.” However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and frequent spelling and word-choice errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “differcuilt,” “afforde,” “pupil” for people, and “thea gob” where the intended meaning is unclear. Some combinations, such as “the major role play in our life,” are not natural English. Build a topic vocabulary for access, supply, affordability, conservation, and public services, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example by using “because” and “but,” and the reader can often infer your main position. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. Errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur throughout: “the government provide,” “the water are,” and “the human are not survive” are examples. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, making the long opening difficult to read. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with one clear subordinate clause. Check that subjects and verbs agree and that each sentence has a complete, correctly formed main clause.
