Student answer (Band 6.5)

Access to clean water is among the basic rights of humans. Everyone, regardless of their region, skin tone, and race should get access to clean drinking water free of cost.

I am of the same opinon that people around the globe should get access to potable water without any charges.

Water is one of the necessities of humans and for proper body functioning, adequate amount of water is needed. For that reason, availability of fresh water is crucial for everybody to sustain themsleves. Since some of the people cannot afford to get clean water by installing water pumps, the governments of different nations should provide everyone an access to water supply for free. For instance, a definite proportion of tax should be used to build huge water-treatment plants in every town. From those plants, water should be supplied to every house of the town using pipelines.

Since many regions of the world have scarcity of water, finding ground-water is a challenging task. Therefore, this water shortage poses serious health issues in the residents. According to the medical specialists, water is crucial for maintaining many important functions of our body, including digestion, urination and removal of salts from the blood. If enough amount of water is not available, the people will suffer from indigestion, constipation and other complications, including kidney stones, because of the increased level of salts in the blood. To tackle this problem, there should be a proper rainwater harvesting system. For example, local authorities should dig large wells and collect rainwater in that wells. After collection and filtration, it should be supplied to people for drinking and cooking purposes.

To conclude, I firmly agree with the statement that providing potable water to the citizens should be the top most duty of the governments. For this reason, authorities should take proper actions so that people do not suffer from water shortage.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you agree that governments should ensure access to potable water. You give relevant reasons, including affordability, health, and water scarcity, and support them with practical examples such as treatment plants, pipelines, and rainwater harvesting. This covers the task well. However, the discussion does not fully examine the key proposal that water should be free in every home: the tax-funded supply is mentioned, but the costs, limits, or possible alternatives are not explored. The health paragraph also lists medical consequences without explaining how free household provision would address scarcity in different regions. Developing these links and weighing the proposal more directly would make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons and examples, and a conclusion restates your position. Ideas generally progress from the need for water to scarcity and health effects. Linking expressions such as “For that reason,” “Since,” and “To tackle this problem” help show relationships between points. At times, however, connections feel mechanical, and some references are not fully clear. For example, “this water shortage” follows a sentence about finding groundwater, while the paragraph then shifts to health effects without a clear transition explaining the link. The two body paragraphs could also be more tightly focused on separate reasons. Use clearer topic sentences and explicit links back to free household supply.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “potable water,” “water-treatment plants,” “pipelines,” “water scarcity,” and “rainwater harvesting.” These terms help communicate the subject clearly, and the meaning remains understandable throughout. There are also some inaccurate or unnatural choices that limit precision: “free of cost” is less natural than “free of charge,” “adequate amount of water” needs a more idiomatic form, and “top most duty” is not a natural collocation. Spelling slips such as “opinon” and “themsleves” also affect accuracy. Aim for more consistent collocations and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary more fluent and precise while retaining the useful topic-specific range already present.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses beginning “Since” and “If,” and the conditional sentence “If enough amount of water is not available, the people will suffer…”. Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly, and the range is suitable for the task. Some grammatical errors remain. For example, “regardless of their region, skin tone, and race should get access” needs commas to set off the introductory phrase, while “collect rainwater in that wells” has a demonstrative and plural agreement problem. “An adequate amount of water” also requires an article, and “the people” is unnecessarily specific in the general statement. Review articles, agreement, and punctuation, and proofread longer sentences to improve control.
