Student answer (Band 5.0)

clean water is the basic human need. i am totally agree with that every home should have water supply which can be provided by the government free of cost.

firstly as we all know that clean water is very good for health. because water is the basic necessity for human after oxygen. the main reason of opinion is that the water which is toxic for human causes many health problems. regardless of age. its effect is on all human. if the government provide the clean water free of cost its accessible for everyone as we know people in our country are mostly middle class and they do not afford these things so they used the polluted water.

secondly, if the government take this initiative of free of charge water the life cycle of people in our country increases also when the people are healthy they work efficiently so our country grow.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a clear position in favour of free water, and both reasons are relevant: clean water protects health, while better health can help people work more effectively. However, the response addresses the task only partially because these points are stated briefly and are not supported with a specific example or explanation. For instance, you say that people use polluted water because they cannot afford alternatives, but do not explain the consequences or how a free supply would address this problem. The response also does not meet the required minimum length, so there is limited space to develop your argument. Extend each reason with explanation or a relevant example, and clarify whether you mean a free basic supply for every household.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is some organisation: you state your view at the beginning and use “firstly” and “secondly” to introduce two supporting reasons. The ideas are generally related to the topic, so the reader can follow the broad argument. However, progression is limited because each point is compressed into a few sentences, and the second reason moves quickly from free water to life expectancy and then national growth without showing the links between them. Some connections are also awkward, such as “because water is the basic necessity” following a full stop. Use separate, clearly developed paragraphs and connect each claim to its explanation with accurate linking phrases. A concluding sentence would also help bring the argument together.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the central ideas, with relevant terms such as “toxic,” “polluted water,” “health problems,” and “accessible.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes the writing less precise. For example, “i am totally agree” and “the life cycle of people … increases” do not express your meaning naturally; “life expectancy” is likely the intended phrase. “Free of cost” is understandable but repeated, and “these things” is vague. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and natural collocations, such as “provide a free basic water supply” and “reduce waterborne illnesses.” Check word forms and spelling, including capitalisation of “I” and sentence beginnings.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to express reasons and consequences, including a conditional structure in “if the government provide the clean water free of cost,” but the range of sentence patterns remains limited and errors are frequent. Subject–verb agreement is often incorrect: use “the government provides” and “our country grows.” Other examples include “i am totally agree,” which should be “I totally agree,” and “water is the basic necessity,” where the article needs attention. Sentence boundaries and punctuation also cause problems: “because water is the basic necessity for human after oxygen” is a fragment, and “regardless of age” is left as a fragment. Practise building complete sentences with accurate verb forms, articles, and punctuation before adding more complex clauses.
