Student answer (Band 5.5)

Time spins and with every spin, there is a change. In conventional epoch, water supply was provided to the masses by government, whereas nowadays, every sector is converted into private ownerships and water supply is provided by private enterprise to the general public. It has been put forward that access to clean water is a basic human right while every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. I disagree with this stance.

The predominant rationale why every individuals ought to be not get water supply free of cost, is that, it arise burden on the regime, For instance, when government provide free water supply to the general public, it surge the pressure on the shoulder of the authorities by providing the water free of cost. Besides this, it also provide assistance to economy growth of the nation. A good illustration of that is, government collect taxes from the citizen of the nations while providing water supply, then the collected taxes can be used in the development of the nation which surge the economy of the region.

As,"Beauty lies in the eyes of beholders", likewise, some commentators opine that government should provide free water supply to the general public. Firstly, it is a moral duty of regime to provide basic amenities to the citizen of the country. To explicate, as law makers work for the welfare of nation as government has hauge amount of funds to utilize for the welfare of the society. Nevertheless, this arguments annulled by the fact that government should impose taxes on the water supply to reduce the water scarcity in the nation. To illustrate this, as people know that water is free of cost and people use water as much as their needs are getting satisfied.

"Hammering on the last nail", it can be reiterated that government should impose taxes on the water supply to reduce the scarcity of the water and make the value of water.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You state a clear disagreement in the introduction and return to the view that water should be taxed in the conclusion. The response also considers the opposing argument that governments have a duty to provide basic amenities, so it engages with the central issue. However, the reasons for charging households are not consistently explained: the claim that taxes collected for water support economic growth does not show why water itself should not be free, and the link between charging and reducing scarcity needs clearer support. The discussion of water use is relevant but remains general, with no specific example. Develop each main reason with a direct explanation of how it supports your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the reader can identify your overall position. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. In the first body paragraph, the points about government burden and economic growth are joined without clearly showing how one leads to the other. Connectors such as “Besides this,” “Firstly,” and “Nevertheless” are used, but some do not establish a precise relationship between the ideas that follow. The opposing view and rebuttal are placed together, yet the rebuttal would be clearer if separated and developed step by step. Use topic sentences and more accurate referencing to make the argument’s progression easier to track.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related and formal vocabulary, including “basic amenities,” “water scarcity,” “impose taxes,” and “welfare of the society.” These choices show an effort to discuss the issue beyond everyday language. However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions make parts of the argument harder to understand, such as “conventional epoch,” “private ownerships,” “surge the pressure on the shoulder,” and “hammering on the last nail.” Some words are also repeated, particularly “government,” “water supply,” and “free of cost.” Aim for more natural collocations and precise wording, and avoid idioms unless you are confident they fit the context. This would make your position clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a contrast between past and present in the opening and a conditional example beginning “when government provide free water supply.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries can make the reader pause. For example, “every individuals ought to be not get” has an incorrect structure, while “government collect taxes” and “it also provide” do not maintain subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “As,” also has confusing punctuation and structure. Practise building shorter, accurate sentences first, then combine ideas using clauses such as “because” and “although.” Check agreement and verb forms during proofreading.
