Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, whether clean water should be provided to the public without any charges or it needs some resctrictions, is a matter of ongoing discussion. I strongly agree with the view of that it should be free as it is a basic human need, and reasons supporting to an agreement will be discussed below.

To begin with, the potential concern of free supply of water to individuals will be the misuse of water. It has been seen that when something important is available at no cost, it gets under estimated. In india, for example, during summer when the public often suffers shortage of water, there are some people on other side that over using and wasting it on usless work. As a result, there are chances of wastage of water if provided without charges.

On the other hand, clean water is a basic human need and right. Every home deserve the clean water for their common use, such as cooking and drinking, and even to stay away from some confectious deseases they need water to keep their clothes and body clean. For instance, the government of Europe provide water supply for free to their citizens proving it as a human right. Also, it is essential for authorities to enable an access of clean water to the needy homes, the people who can not afford it but still they should have water for their survival. Therefore, the supply of clean water should be available to all citizens equally, no rascism should be occur.

In conclusion, although the free access of clean water may result in getting over use or waste, it should have limited free supply to those who need it. It is basic human right to have a water for their day to day activities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that clean water should be provided as a basic right, and you address both the risk of waste and the need for universal access. The examples of water shortages in India and households unable to afford water are relevant. However, the discussion is uneven: the concern about misuse is introduced but not explored in depth, while the claim that European governments provide water free is broad and needs a specific, reliable example. Your conclusion also shifts to “limited free supply to those who need it,” which is narrower than your earlier claim that every home should have access. Clarify whether you support free basic quantities for all or fully free household supply, then develop that position consistently.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. Overall, the ideas are arranged coherently, but some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “the potential concern … will be the misuse” does not clearly explain how this concern relates to your agreement, and the conclusion’s “limited free supply to those who need it” does not fully follow from the argument for equal access. Improve progression by explaining the relationship between each point and your position, and use clearer references when moving from the risk of waste to the case for access.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “basic human need,” “shortage of water,” “wasting” and “survival,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “a matter of ongoing discussion” and “enable an access,” but some choices are inaccurate or unnatural. Examples include “under estimated” for something being undervalued, “usless work,” and “no rascism should be occur.” Spelling errors such as “resctrictions,” “confectious” and “deseases” also reduce precision. Build accuracy by learning common collocations for water access and conservation, and check spelling and word forms carefully; this would make your vocabulary more precise and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a conditional idea (“when something important is available at no cost”) and a relative clause (“the people who can not afford it”). Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity and control. For example, “Every home deserve” needs subject–verb agreement, while “there are some people on other side that over using” has an unclear clause structure and an incorrect verb form. The opening sentence also has awkward punctuation around its introductory clause, and “it should have limited free supply” lacks a clear grammatical construction. Practise agreement, articles and complete clause patterns, then proofread longer sentences for verb forms and punctuation.
