Student answer (Band 5.5)

Having easy access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every individual must have free of cost water supplies to their residence.

I totally agree with the statement, as water is one of the basic necessities of human life. Clean water is required on daily basis to do home chores i.e washing clothes, taking bath, for cooking and most important for drinking. As a muslim cleanliness is half of our eman and without water it is impossible to keep yourslef neat and tidy and your belongings.

Providing drinkable water by charging a fee is not feasible as everyone will not be able to afford it and due to current geolpolitical situation and high rise in inflation its already difficult to manage hoouehold expenses. If nation will be charged for the supplies of water it will become difficult to survive for them. Water is commodity not a luxury which is to be charged from people.

Due to global warming monsoon season is delayed and shorten as compared to previous years, and significant growth in population has increaesed the consumption of water. As the world is growing rapidly water is becoming one of scarce resource.

Governemnt should take responsibility for building an infrastructure for restoration and distribution of water i.e Dams and creating supply network for efficient use of one of the natural resource. Authorities should invest on preservation of rain water and also its proper distribution across the regions. As responsible citizen People should also be considerate of using this resource carefully and also contibutes in decresing carbon footprint and moving towrds more sustainable options.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction—“I totally agree”—and you give relevant reasons, including water’s importance for daily needs, affordability, and the need for public infrastructure. These points address the question, and the discussion of government responsibility adds a useful dimension. The response also includes a personal and cultural reference, although the cleanliness point could be linked more explicitly to why water should be free. Some ideas are less fully developed than others: for example, the effects of inflation and population growth are asserted but not supported with a specific example or explanation. To strengthen the response further, explain how free household provision could be funded and distinguish a basic supply from unlimited use.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, several reason-focused paragraphs, and a concluding recommendation. The progression from household needs to affordability, scarcity, and government action is generally understandable. However, the links between some ideas are abrupt. The paragraph about global warming and population growth, for instance, introduces scarcity but does not clearly connect it to your argument for free provision. Some linking expressions, such as “As the world is growing rapidly,” are broad rather than precise, and the final paragraph combines government investment with citizens’ environmental responsibilities. Use clearer topic sentences and explicit links showing how each point supports your position; a more focused conclusion would also help the argument progress smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “basic necessities,” “inflation,” “global warming,” “distribution,” and “carbon footprint,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “Authorities should invest on preservation of rain water.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “geolpolitical,” “hoouehold,” “increaesed,” and “contibutes.” Several collocations are unnatural, such as “free of cost water supplies,” “charged for the supplies of water,” and “one of scarce resource.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. A more precise vocabulary range would make the argument easier to follow and sound more academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional construction in “If nation will be charged for the supplies of water it will become difficult to survive for them.” This shows an effort to express relationships between ideas, but control is uneven. Errors include missing articles and agreement (“on daily basis,” “one of the natural resource”), incorrect pronoun reference (“keep yourslef neat”), and sentence-boundary or punctuation problems, such as the long final sentence and the missing comma after “As a muslim.” The conditional also needs a more accurate verb form. Practise building complex sentences with reliable clause structure, and check articles, singular/plural agreement, pronouns, and punctuation during revision.
