Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is the fundamental right of a human to have access to clean water. Hence, every home should be equipped with clean water supply at no cost. There is an ongoing debate on need and supply of clean water and its accessibility to the public. As water is a natural resource so no official sector can deprive human from their right. However a certain number of factors are involved in this poorly managed resource.

Water contributes to 70% of the total land on earth. However major population is suffering from clean water despite of its abundance. With the modernisation and Industrial revolution, underwater resource is getting polluted day by day. Poor sanitation and infrastrutral faults are the major contributor in this aspect, neglecting the fact that people pay taxes for water needs. Moreover, political monoply also play a pivotal role in this regard. Public are advised to pay their taxes on time and on other hand, their hard-earned money is being wasted on administartion's own benefits.

The sub-urban areas and underpreviliged sites are the major victims for this clean resource. Poor people are more likely to suffer due to the sub-standard facilities and below averge management activities. For instance, people belonging to remote areas of Sindh in Pakistan are reported to face this challenge more evidently. Unclean water leads to a certain health problems like stomach issues, skin allergies and sometimes lead to high risk medical disorders.

It is the ultimate responsibility of related government departments to take an action and take a step forward to resolve the ongoing issue. Filtration plants need to be installed in every corner so that commons don't have to bother and carry on their daily life with ease.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address the topic and give relevant reasons for government action, including pollution, poor infrastructure, unequal access and health risks. The example of remote areas of Sindh helps make the problem concrete. However, the response does not maintain a fully clear answer to the central question of whether household water should be free: the opening agrees, but most of the essay discusses shortages and mismanagement rather than explaining why supply should be free or considering who should pay for treatment and delivery. The final paragraph recommends filtration plants but does not directly return to the free-of-charge proposal. Develop this position with a clear explanation and support, such as how free provision could protect low-income households and how it might be funded.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, paragraphs on causes and affected communities, and a concluding recommendation. Ideas generally progress from the broad water problem to its effects and possible action. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For instance,” and “However” help connect points, although some transitions feel mechanical or do not show the intended relationship clearly. For example, “Water contributes to 70% of the total land” is followed by a contrast about people lacking clean water, but the connection between these claims needs explanation. The conclusion also shifts to filtration plants without clearly tying this solution to the essay’s position on free household supply. Use clearer topic sentences and refer back to the central argument as each paragraph develops.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “sanitation,” “infrastructure,” “polluted,” “underprivileged,” and “health disorders,” which allows you to discuss causes and consequences. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “pivotal role” and “ultimate responsibility.” However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling reduce precision: “Water contributes to 70% of the total land” appears to confuse land with the Earth’s surface, while “political monopoly” and “commons” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Several spellings, including “infrastrutral,” “monoply,” and “administartion's,” also need correction. Build accuracy by checking collocations and choosing direct expressions—for example, “public water supply” and “government departments”—rather than using formal-sounding phrases that are unclear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “as,” “so that,” and “despite,” and the main message is generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly with articles, agreement and sentence construction. For example, “with clean water supply” needs an article or plural form, and “a certain number of factors are involved” is awkwardly constructed. In “political monoply also play,” the singular subject requires a singular verb; “people … are reported to face” is a more successful agreement pattern. The opening sentence “As water is a natural resource so…” also combines connectors in a faulty structure. Practise building accurate complex sentences, checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and separating clauses with appropriate punctuation.
