Student answer (Band 5.5)

ABSOLUTELY THE CLEAN WATER IS A BASIC OR WE CAN SAY THAT NATURAL HUMAN RIGHT.IT MEANS EVERY PERSON ON THE PLANET SHOULD HAVE THE CLEAN WATER FOR THEIR USE,EVEN FOR DRINKING OR EVEN FOR OTHER USE LIKE BATH.

I COMPLETELY AGREE THAT EVERY HOME SHOULD HAVE A WATER SUPPLY LINE AND IT SHOULD ALSO FREE OF COST.BECAUSE THE BASIC RIGHTS SHOULD BE FREE FOR HUMAN,LIKE HEALTH FACILITIES AND FREE EDUCATION ETC.SPECIALLY WATER SHOULD BE FREE OF COST BECAUSE IT IS A COMPLETELY FREE NATURAL RESOURCE.FOR INSTANCE IN PAKISTAN THERE ARE A LOT OF RIVERS, DAMS AND ALSO OTHER RESOURCE OF WATER AND THERE IS NO NEED TO TAKE WATER FROM SEA BECAUSE THE WATER OF SEA HAS A LOT OF SALTY INGREDIENTS, SO IT NEEDS TO CLEAN THE WATER FOR THE USE.IT IS VERY COSTLY,BUT THE WATER OF RIVERS AND DAMS HAVE NO NEED TO CLEAN, IT IS NATURALLY CLEAN AND USEFUL FOR DRINKING AND OTHER USE.SO GOVERNMENT SHOULD SUPPLY THE WATER TO EVERY HOME WITHOUT ANY CHARGE.

GOVRNMENTS SHOULD INVEST THE FUNDS TO GIVE THE CLEAN WATER TO THEIR PEOPLE WITHOUT ANY COST AND TAX FREE.

FOR INSTANCE IN SOME AREAS OF PAKISTAN THE WATER SUPPLY IS FREE OF COST ESPECIALLY IN RURAL AREAS,BUT IN BIG CITIES LIKE KARACHI LAHORE AND RAWALPINDI, GOVERNMENT DOES NOT GIVE THE WATER WITHOUT CHARGE.IT IS COMPLETELY NOT EQUAL.AS WATER IS A BASIC HUMAN RIGHT AND EVERY PERSON HAS FALL IN THIS CATEGORY EVEN HE IS LIVING IN CITY OR LIVING IN VILLAGE.

SO GOVERNMENTS SHOULD TAKE THE STEPS TO PROVIDE CLAEN WATER TO ALL THEIR PEOPLE.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that households should receive clean water without charge, and you give relevant reasons, including water as a basic right and differences in provision between rural areas and major Pakistani cities. The examples make the response relevant to the question. However, the support is limited and some claims are not explained sufficiently. For example, saying river and dam water “has no need to clean” is questionable and does not establish that supplying safe water is cost-free; treatment and delivery costs need consideration. The comparison between rural and urban access is also asserted rather than illustrated with specific evidence. Develop these points and address the practical costs or how governments could fund universal provision to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: it introduces the issue, states agreement, gives reasons and examples, and ends with a recommendation. Paragraph breaks help separate the main points. However, progression within the body is not always clear: the discussion moves from natural resources and water treatment to government funding, then to unequal access, with limited explanation of how each point connects. Linking expressions such as “for instance,” “because,” and “so” are repeated and sometimes create abrupt or overly simple connections. The final paragraph largely repeats the position rather than drawing the reasons together. Use clearer topic sentences and explain the relationship between each example and your claim; vary linking devices and use pronouns or reference phrases more precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “basic human right,” “water supply,” “natural resource,” “rivers,” and “government,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repeated, particularly “free of cost,” “water,” and “government.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “salty ingredients,” “fall in this category,” and “take the steps.” Spelling errors, including “GOVRNMENTS” and “CLAEN,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise expressions such as “saline content,” “is entitled to this right,” and “take steps,” and check spelling carefully. Greater variety in vocabulary for costs, access, treatment, and public services would help express the argument more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Your writing communicates a consistent viewpoint, and you attempt to connect ideas using clauses with “because,” “so,” and “even.” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and attempts at longer sentences often contain several errors. For example, “it should also free of cost” is missing a verb, while “the water of rivers and dams have no need to clean” has problems with agreement and sentence construction. Articles and prepositions are also frequently inaccurate, as in “for their use” and “in big cities.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, with many sentences written in capitals and commas joining ideas that need clearer sentence boundaries. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then build longer sentences with controlled clauses and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation.
