Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is often argued by some people that there should be a unlimited supply of water and free of cost because in pakistan there is shortage of water. Meanwhile this is a basic human right everone should have free acces to water

As you can see in many areas of Pakistan there is not clean water and where is you have to purchase tanks to live your basic routine like Washing,Cooking ,Cleaning and other basic things .

As according to the pakistan news in areas like Islamabad and murre and nothern areas.

I Absolutely agree with this statement access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge beacuse these are basic human right so. Government should allocate free water to houshold but also charge homes which consume more water beacaue there are not many sources so if we want to mantain a steady balance of life we should allocate a fixed range of free water who consume more than this should be charged because low income familes are not able to afford .Meanwhile ,on the other hand ,clean water is neccesary for healthy life and water is also main component of life . It is basic fundamental

So, if we keep this solution by limiting the range of water and who want to consume more should be charged in this way there should not be a burden to goverment or our country

In conclusion ,everyone should have access to clean water as this is basic human need .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You state a clear position—“I Absolutely agree”—and give relevant reasons, including the difficulty of obtaining clean water in parts of Pakistan and the need to protect low-income families. The proposal to provide a fixed free allowance and charge for higher consumption also shows an attempt to consider how the policy could work. However, the response only partly develops the task: the examples are brief, and the claim about particular areas is not explained or supported. The discussion also shifts between free access to clean water and an “unlimited supply,” which are not the same position. The response is 239 words, 11 words below the 250-word minimum; 23 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop your reasons and clarify the policy you support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a recognisable overall shape: you introduce the issue, state your agreement, give reasons and a proposal, and finish with a conclusion. However, progression between ideas is difficult to follow because several points are placed together without clear paragraphing or explanation. For example, “As you can see…” is followed by a fragment about news and locations, then the response moves abruptly to the government’s role. Linking phrases such as “Meanwhile” and “on the other hand” are repeated or do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. Organise the response into distinct paragraphs—position, supporting reasons, policy proposal, and conclusion—and use transitions only where they accurately connect the points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “basic human right,” “low income families,” “allocate,” and “steady balance,” so the reader can identify the subject and your main proposal. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. For instance, “unlimited supply” conflicts with your later proposal to limit free water, while “purchase tanks to live your basic routine” does not clearly express the need to buy water for daily use. Spelling errors such as “acces,” “beacuse,” and “neccesary” are also noticeable. Aim for precise phrases such as “a basic household allowance” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, and the main position is generally understandable. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently, particularly in sentence boundaries, articles, agreement, and punctuation. The opening, “It is often argued by some people that there should be a unlimited supply,” has an article error, while “Meanwhile this is a basic human right everone should have free acces to water” joins ideas without clear punctuation or a relative clause marker. Other examples include “Government should allocate” and the incomplete ending “It is basic fundamental.” Use shorter, complete sentences when needed, and practise articles, plural forms, and punctuation before attempting longer clauses.
