Student answer (Band 6.0)
Pure water is an essential need. In many countries, people from disadvantaged backgrounds faces lack of clean water supply. I largely believe that this is a basic necessity and governments should provide free supplies to their populations to maintain public health and sanitation systems.
We are dependent on water for different purposes, for example, to drink, to complete different routine tasks such as household chores, washing, cleaning, cooking and in many mechanical or technical systems to run them efficiently. A large amount of water is used to run many systems efficiently, in cooling digital AI and data servers. Without clean water they may not be perform effectively.
Lack of fresh and clean water can cause many harms to human health as well. For instance, it has been observed that people living in backward areas with less or impure water availability highly suffer from many water-borne diseases. These diseases includes Hepatitis, digestive and many urine-tract infections. Hepatitis is a chronic illness which can further lead to liver damage and is fatal in some cases. For a person, with limited income, who can not afford to buy pure water also deserves easy accessibility to water. Poor health conditions may also increase pressure on medical care facilities. It can also cause financial burden on the government.
Governments should allocate funds and improve water facilities in different areas, installation of public water filters, recover natural water resources, maintain already established water facilities and encourage people to use available water responsibly. It should also introduce water supplies from house-to-house with proper management.
However, available water should be treated with individual and corporate responsibility. This may limit wastage of fresh water. For the implementation of this, an option is to make regulations about the usage of clean and save water. Impose restriction on campanies and to not release their harmful waste in fresh water bodies. In conclusion, the government, organisations and people can make a collective effort to save water. With public water availability by the government of that specific country or area.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you largely agree that governments should provide water without charge, and you support this with relevant points about public health, affordability and sanitation. The discussion of water-borne illness and the financial pressure that poor health can place on medical services gives the argument useful development. You also recognise that responsible use and controls on pollution matter. However, the response does not fully explain what “free” provision would mean in practice—for example, whether all household use should be free or only a basic amount. The paragraph on water used by data servers is less directly connected to the claim about household supply, and the final paragraph introduces regulation without clearly linking it back to your position. Clarifying these points would make the response more fully developed and consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a recognisable overall structure: it introduces a position, develops reasons, proposes government action and ends with a conclusion. Paragraphing generally helps separate the main ideas, and transitions such as “For instance,” “However” and “In conclusion” guide the reader. Some progression is less smooth, though. The discussion moves from household needs to AI servers, then to disease and government costs, without always showing how each point advances the central argument. The final paragraph also shifts between individual responsibility, company pollution and government provision, while the concluding fragment beginning “With public water availability…” does not form a complete closing thought. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and ensure the conclusion directly restates the position rather than adding an unfinished idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “water-borne diseases,” “sanitation systems,” “financial burden” and “natural water resources.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and you attempt some less common expressions. At times, however, word choice and collocation are inaccurate or awkward, such as “complete different routine tasks,” “recover natural water resources” and “save water” where the intended meaning appears to be conserving clean water. There are also spelling errors, including “campanies,” and some repetition of “clean water” and “efficiently.” These issues do not prevent understanding, but more precise, natural phrasing would strengthen the argument. Review collocations and spelling, and choose terms that express the intended action exactly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a conditional sentence (“Without clean water they may not be perform effectively”) and a relative clause describing people with limited income. The main ideas are usually understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction remain. For example, “people … faces” should use a plural verb, “These diseases includes” has the same agreement problem, and “may not be perform” needs a correctly formed verb. The sentence beginning “Governments should allocate funds and improve water facilities…” also combines several actions without a clear grammatical structure, while the final “With public water availability…” is a fragment. Check subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and revise long sentences into complete, clearly controlled clauses.
