Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, shortage of water is seen in many parts of the world but the water is very necessary for every human life and the clean water is a basic human right . I partially agree with the point that water supply should be free for every person but with some conditions.

To commence with the first point of view , water is very important for everyday work. Without water life can not be imagined. While, there are some families who are already fighting for other necessary things and can not pay for the supply of water. For example, the reseach shows that there are many parts of the India where water is contaminated but people are using it beacuse they cannot affort the filtered water supply. So, water should be freely available.

On other hand , there are many irresponsible people who waste water in their daily life process. The charges should applicable on those who use fresh water for their extra work like car washing , watering the plants etcetera so that they can realise it value . The farmer should also support and contribute towar the saving of water. For instance, there are many techniques and crops that can grow without water or by using very minimal water, farmer and government should support that kind of crops.

In conclusion ,although water is free gift from god yet it should not be wasted . The government should do a survey and apply chanrges where the wastage of water is more and which cause shortage in other places

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you partially agree, supporting free access to essential water while proposing charges to discourage waste. You address both sides and give relevant examples, including families unable to afford filtered water and charging for non-essential uses such as washing cars. These points respond to the question, but some are not fully explained. For instance, the claim that farmers should use crops requiring little water is relevant to conservation, yet its connection to whether household water should be free is not made explicit. The India example also needs clearer support and explanation. To strengthen the response, develop the conditions behind your position—for example, explain how a free basic allowance could coexist with charges for excessive use.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your position, two body paragraphs present contrasting considerations, and a conclusion restates the main idea. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the argument, and signposts such as “To commence” and “On other hand” indicate shifts. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. “To commence with the first point of view” is wordy, while “On other hand” lacks an article and does not smoothly connect the contrast. The conclusion introduces a survey and charges without clearly summarising how these fit your position. Use simpler transitions and make each paragraph’s main point explicit, then link examples directly to that point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “contaminated,” “filtered water supply,” “waste water,” and “shortage.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “extra work” and “minimal water,” although some combinations are imprecise or unnatural. Spelling and word-form errors—including “reseach,” “beacuse,” “affort,” “chanrges,” and “towar”—are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the vocabulary. Phrases such as “free gift from god” are understandable but informal for an academic essay. Build a more precise range around water access and conservation, and check spelling and collocations during revision so your meaning sounds more natural and formal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea in “so that they can realise it value” and a relative clause in “those who use fresh water.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “Without water life can not be imagined,” where the phrasing and punctuation need attention, and “The charges should applicable,” which is missing a verb. There are also article, agreement, and sentence-boundary problems, such as “On other hand” and the run-on conclusion beginning “In conclusion, although.” Aim to make each sentence complete, check articles and verb forms, and use punctuation to separate clauses clearly.
