Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you completely agree that households should receive clean water free of charge. You address relevant reasons, especially affordability for low-income families and the public-health benefits of safe water, and the Pakistan example helps illustrate the first point. This fits a response that addresses the task and supports its main ideas. However, some support is asserted rather than explained: the claims about an Oxford University study and China’s treatment plants are difficult to assess because no details are given about the research or how the figures support your argument. Develop each example with a clear explanation of its relevance, and briefly acknowledge how governments could fund or manage free provision to make the argument more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable overall shape: it introduces your view, gives reasons and examples, and ends with a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” show an effort to connect points. However, progression within the body is difficult to follow because several ideas are crowded together, and the paragraphing does not clearly separate the affordability argument from the health argument. Some connectors are used mechanically or do not mark a clear relationship, while references such as “this” in the final sentences are unclear. Organise the essay into distinct paragraphs, each with one main claim, explanation and example. Use fewer, more precise transitions and make pronoun references explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “fundamental human right,” “low income families,” “public health,” and “waterborne diseases.” These choices communicate the central ideas, but the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts of the response difficult to understand. Examples include “Access of pure water,” “cost regular water supply,” “spread borne water diseases,” and “water treatment” where more natural phrasing is needed. Spelling errors such as “accomodation,” “driking,” and “difficulities” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of topic-specific collocations and check word forms and spelling; for instance, use “access to safe drinking water” and “the spread of waterborne diseases.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons and examples, such as the sentence beginning “For example, poor househol rural areas…” This shows an effort to express connected ideas, but the range of structures is limited and complex attempts are often faulty. Errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles and verb patterns frequently interrupt the reader: “every accomodation wants have,” “governments should provide every families has access,” and “when people have no access pure water to increase…” are difficult to interpret. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, with several ideas joined without clear stops. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking articles, agreement and punctuation in each sentence.
