Student answer (Band 4.5)

It is often argued that clean water is a basic human right and every hosehold should recieve it free of charge . I completely agree with this statemtent because it protects peoples health and reduces tha financial burden on poor families.

The main reason I agree with this view is that a heathy life style can protect people from many diseases and improve their physical fitness Regular exercise, a balanced diet and sufficient sleep are important for maintaining good health. for example, people wo eat fresh fruits and vegetables and exercise regularly may reduce their risk of obesity and heart disease. As a result, they can feel more energetic and perform their daily activities more effectively. Moreover healthy people may spend less money on medical treatment , which can also reduce their financial problems.

Another important reason is that Secondly good health is important for mental well being. People who exercise regularly and maintain a balanced a lifestyle may experience less stress and feel happier. For instance, walking in a park, playing sports and spending time with family can help people relax after a busy day. In addition, governments should provide affordable healthcare services and encourage people to follow healthy habits. Schools can also teach childern about nutrition and physical activity from an early age. These steps can help create a healthier society and improve peoples lives.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that every home should recieve a basic supply of clean water free of charge. This can protect public health, support low income families and create a fair society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

Your position is clear in the introduction and conclusion: you agree that households should receive clean water free of charge. However, the body paragraphs mainly discuss exercise, diet, healthcare and mental well-being rather than explaining how free water protects health or supports low-income families. This makes the response only minimally relevant to the specific question, despite the conclusion mentioning water. To improve, build each main point around the proposed free water supply—for example, explain how it prevents waterborne illness and why charges may prevent poorer households from accessing enough safe water. Then support those points with relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, so there is a recognisable essay structure. Some ideas are linked with markers such as “Moreover,” “For instance” and “In conclusion.” However, the progression is difficult to follow because the body paragraphs develop general health advice instead of the water-supply argument. The second paragraph also begins “Another important reason is that Secondly,” combining two transitions awkwardly, and several ideas—exercise, schools and government healthcare—are placed together without a clear connection to the task. Organise the body around two distinct reasons for free clean water, and use transitions only where they clarify the relationship between those reasons.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “basic human right,” “public health,” “low income families” and “financial burden.” There is also a range of everyday health-related terms, such as “balanced diet” and “medical treatment.” However, much of this vocabulary is directed at lifestyle and healthcare rather than water access, so it does not precisely express the argument required. Spelling errors such as “hosehold,” “recieve,” “statemtent” and “childern” are noticeable, and some phrases are repetitive or imprecise. Develop vocabulary specific to safe water, affordability and access, and proofread spelling and word choice carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning “because,” “who” and “which.” Most of the intended meaning remains understandable. However, errors in sentence boundaries and punctuation occur, as in “improve their physical fitness Regular exercise,” where a full stop is needed. There are also faulty constructions, including “Another important reason is that Secondly,” and “maintain a balanced a lifestyle.” Missing commas after introductory linking words and inconsistent sentence punctuation further reduce control. Aim to form complete sentences, remove duplicated or misplaced words, and check that each clause is joined and punctuated correctly.
