Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many welfare states works to provide basic services to their citizens. Out of which, the access to clean water is of foremost significance. I largely agree to this idea that supply of clean drinking water should be provided free of any charges.

It could be argued that, free of cost supply of basic service might end in wastage of the resource. The underlying reason is that people often take free services for-granted, and for the things the are paying for would be taken more responsibally. Resultantly, if there is no check and balance on the supply of water resources by the state, the priviledged class would take all the leverage of this luxury and deprived group will get no access.

In my view, the easy access to the water supply to households should be made free of charge. Water is the only commodity that every segment of the society needs in daily life. Daily home chores largely depends on the water usage, including cooking food and washing clothes. so, those who can not get other luxuries of life without paying off, desrves the basic necessity free of any extra amount.

Another reason I back the idea of free supply of clean water is that it is an important component for construction, medicine and cosmetic production. The utilization of water as a vital component for the industrial production of these goods and materials can effect the quality of the required products. Hence, generous supply of water for construction sites, medical laborataries and cosmetic chambers, makes the final produce up to the mark.

In conclusion, free supply of water facilitate people in their daily life as it is an inevitable component of routein lives. While, it also facilitates the industrial functions smooth and guarantee the quality of the products.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you largely agree that household water should be free, and the conclusion returns to this view. You also acknowledge a relevant counterargument about wastage and explain that unequal access could result if supply is not regulated. These features address the task and show some development. However, the main case is not consistently focused on whether water should be free for every home: the paragraph about industrial use shifts to construction, medicine and cosmetics, without explaining how this supports free household supply. The claim that free water would guarantee product quality is also not sufficiently explained. To strengthen the response, develop the household-focused reasons with specific examples and clarify how the counterargument can be addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion. The progression from a possible drawback to your supporting reasons is generally easy to follow, and signposts such as “In my view,” “Another reason” and “In conclusion” help readers identify the stages of the argument. Some connections, however, are mechanical or unclear. “Out of which” does not link naturally to the preceding sentence, while “While” at the start of the final sentence leaves the relationship between the two concluding points incomplete. The industrial paragraph also feels like a shift away from the household focus. Use more precise links between claims and explanations, and ensure each paragraph advances the same central argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “basic necessity,” “privileged class,” “daily home chores” and “industrial production.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “underlying reason” and “vital component.” However, some choices are inaccurate or unnatural and reduce precision: “take all the leverage of this luxury,” “generous supply” and “facilitates the industrial functions smooth” do not express the intended ideas clearly. Spelling errors such as “responsibally,” “priviledged,” “desrves” and “laborataries” also affect the overall impression. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; precise, straightforward wording will be more effective than formal-sounding phrases used inaccurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional reasoning (“if there is no check and balance…”) and a relative clause (“Water is the only commodity that every segment…”). Meaning is generally recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Many welfare states works” has subject–verb disagreement, and “Daily home chores largely depends” has the same issue. The sentence beginning “The underlying reason is that…” contains an unclear construction, while “those who can not get other luxuries… deserves” has a mismatch between the plural subject and verb. Punctuation and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “While, it also facilitates…”. Review agreement, clause construction and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a complete and grammatically consistent structure.
