Student answer (Band 6.0)
Water is essential for every human being to survive. Therefore, I agree that clean water should be supplied in every household without any cost.
Water is a essential element of our body.We are made out of 70-80% water. We need water to keep our cells alive.Without water we can only sustain our body for 7 days. After that death is inevitable.Clean water is also important to maintain hygiene.Hygiene is a important factor to lead a sound life.General hygenic practice all require water. For example, washing our face , showering and even brushing our teeth requires water to some extend. Basic hygiene is a necessity for all therefore, clean water is also essential for us.Dirty water contains many bacteria and viruses which can cause deadly diseases for us.Dirty water is also a breeding ground for mosquitoes. These mosquitoes spread deadly diseases such a dengue, malaria etc.
Since water is so important for our life it has become a basic human right. Having to pay for it can make a lot of peoole deprived of clean water. For example, a student living alone usually doesn't have enough money to pay for a separate clean water supply. Also people pay taxes to the goverment to ensure their basic rights are protected. So, it should be the governments duty to provide these daily necessities free of charge.
In conclusion, not having to worry about a extra charge just to ensure a basic human right should not feel like a blessing but a common thing for living a healthy and clean life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening: you agree that households should receive clean water without charge, and the conclusion reinforces this view. You give relevant reasons, including water’s role in survival and hygiene, the health risks of contaminated water, and the possibility that charges could exclude people with limited means. The examples of washing and a student living alone help make the argument concrete. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: the link between taxes and the government’s duty, for instance, could be developed with a clearer explanation of how free provision would protect access. The discussion also focuses more on why water is essential than on how a free household supply could be funded or managed. More balanced development of these points would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, the body paragraphs present reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. Ideas generally progress from water’s importance to the consequences of charging for it, and examples are placed near the points they support. Some linking is effective, such as “For example” and “Since water is so important.” However, connections between sentences can feel abrupt, particularly in the long sequence of claims about survival, hygiene, and disease. The repeated use of “water” and “also” makes cohesion somewhat mechanical, while the final paragraph introduces the tax argument without a smooth transition from the health discussion. Grouping related points more deliberately and using clearer references would make the progression more fluent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “basic human right,” “hygiene,” “bacteria,” “viruses,” and “breeding ground,” which helps communicate the subject clearly. There is some attempt at more specific language, but word choice and collocation are not consistently controlled. Phrases such as “made out of 70-80% water,” “a sound life,” and “a separate clean water supply” sound unnatural or imprecise in context. Spelling errors such as “hygenic,” “peoole,” and “goverment” also reduce accuracy. The vocabulary is sufficient to express your main ideas, but greater precision and more natural combinations would improve the response. Review spelling carefully and choose expressions that fit formal academic writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You communicate your main ideas using both short statements and some longer structures, including “Since water is so important for our life it has become a basic human right.” However, grammatical control is uneven, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer sentences. Examples include “a essential element,” “General hygenic practice all require water,” and “washing our face, showering and even brushing our teeth requires water,” where article use, agreement, and sentence construction need attention. Several sentences also run together because spaces after full stops are missing, and commas are needed to separate introductory clauses. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your position, but more accurate articles, subject–verb agreement, and punctuation, alongside carefully controlled complex sentences, would make the writing clearer.
