Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You state agreement in the introduction, but the essay does not consistently explain why household water should be free. Much of the first body paragraph discusses the cost of water infrastructure and other funding priorities, while the next describes international support and the Karachi K4 project. These examples are relevant to water access, but their connection to free provision is not made explicit, and the argument does not weigh the costs against the human-rights principle. The conclusion calls for action on water shortages rather than clearly restating your position on charging households. To strengthen the response, explain whether water should be entirely free or whether a basic amount should be free, then develop reasons and examples that directly support that position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and phrases such as “In the beginning,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” signal stages of the essay. However, the progression between ideas is difficult to follow: the first body paragraph moves from water problems to international organisations and then to fuel, without showing how these points support your view. The second paragraph’s example of the K4 project is detailed but not clearly linked to free household supply. Some linking phrases are used mechanically or do not express the relationship between ideas accurately. Organise each paragraph around one clear reason, use topic sentences, and add explicit explanations connecting evidence to your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “basic human right,” “water supply,” “infrastructure,” “fiscal year budget” and “global warming.” This gives the response some relevant range, but many word choices, collocations and spellings are inaccurate or repetitive, sometimes making meaning harder to understand. For example, “third world” is used in an unclear sentence, “water supply having major cost” is not a natural expression, and “water supply lacking” is awkward. There are also spelling errors such as “availiblity,” “proplem” and “coniquences.” Build a more reliable set of phrases for discussing affordability, public funding and access, and check spelling and word forms carefully. Prefer precise, natural expressions over adding technical-sounding details.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “however,” “which” and “because,” but complex sentences are often difficult to control. Errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries occur throughout: for example, “human have,” “every residence have,” and “world health organisation have” do not match their subjects, while “i agree with that statement every residence…” joins ideas without correct punctuation or a linking structure. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and separating complete sentences; then add subordinate clauses only when their grammatical links are clear.
