Student answer (Band 5.5)

As clean water is an essential human need. Therefore, all houses should be freely supplied by water. Definitely I agree with this statement because this will help people live a healthy life and will decrease financial burden that come from buying clear water.

Firestly, clear water is a basic human right. In old days, people were suffering to get their needs. They used to find water resources, either by drilling wells, living beside rivers and ponds or selling clean water to survive. After huge increase in population, it has become more difficult to find healthy clear water. Which contributes to increase prevelance of diseases among people. As a result, industralized nations start to provide water supply in houses and work places as well. And this automatically helped in improving people health. For example, a research conducted in the UK showed that illnesses that caused by poor personal hiegene started to decline after they provide easy water access.

Secondly, the cost of selling clear water for everyday use is quite expensive. In our modern days, living costs are increasing continously. starting from minor needs to major life requirements. Adding more load by compeling individuals to buy clear water for drinking and cooking would be extremely unfair. By managing this daily struggle, many people will feel slightly free of this burden.

In conclusion, it is a positive development to access clean water for no charge in houses and I totally agree with this due to its positive impact over people's health and because I believe it would help people financially as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that homes should receive clean water without charge, and you give two relevant reasons—better health and reduced financial pressure. The health paragraph includes an example about UK research, which helps support the argument. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: the historical discussion of wells and rivers does not directly show why a free household supply is necessary today, and the financial paragraph could explain who should cover the cost or whether free provision applies to all water use. The response addresses the question, but the two reasons are developed unevenly. To strengthen it, explain the link between each example and your proposal more precisely and extend the less-developed financial argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion that restates your view. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weakened by abrupt or unclear links. For example, “Which contributes to increase prevalence of diseases” is a fragment, and the move from historical water collection to modern household provision needs a clearer explanation. The repeated use of “As a result” and “For example” also makes linking somewhat mechanical. Use complete sentences and make each paragraph develop one central point in a clear sequence, with references that show how each supporting detail relates to your claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “basic human right,” “water resources,” “financial burden,” and “personal hygiene,” and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “Firestly,” “prevelance,” “industralized,” and “hiegene.” Some combinations are also unnatural: “freely supplied by water” and “positive impact over people’s health” do not express the ideas idiomatically. Repetition of “clear water” could be reduced by using more precise alternatives such as “clean drinking water” or “safe water supply.” Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases; this will make your vocabulary more accurate and natural without requiring unnecessarily complex words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional-style explanation and clauses introduced by “because” and “after.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect sentence control. The opening, “As clean water is an essential human need,” is a dependent clause presented as a complete sentence; it could be joined to the next sentence. “Which contributes to increase…” is another fragment, while “illnesses that caused by poor personal hygiene” needs a correctly formed passive clause. There are also agreement and verb-form problems in “financial burden that come” and “after they provide.” Work on complete clause structure, subject–verb agreement, and consistent verb forms, then proofread punctuation so that complex ideas are expressed in complete, accurate sentences.
