Student answer (Band 5.5)

Humans have a basic right to be able to get clean water. So every household should be supplied water in returns for no profit. I completely agree as clean and drinkable water is a basic necessity for survival of human life. Water is also required for performing daily tasks to support life. Water that is not clean also puts human life at risk because contaminated water can cause serious illness.

Daily activities that support life require water. From washing ourselves to cleaning the environment around us, water is necassary. Basic hyegine standards require to shower daily or atleast thrice a week. If there is no water supply for every household then its impossible to keep up with basic level of hygene. For instance a financially struggling person, who doesn't shower frequently or washes clothes due to less availability of water is more likely to stink, fall sick and cause trouble to others around him.

A humany body comprises 70% of water and in order to function properly it needs pure water internally. The water a human drink needs to be purified and everyone might not have resources to do. Therefor they are forced to drink water that does not meet the safety standards of drinkable water. For example an individual consuming contaminated water is more prone to kidney diseases, kidneys work as internal water filters but they still need some level of clean water to be able to filter it.

In conclusion, human survival on earth is not possible without water as it needs to be provided to every human free of cost, so they can perform their daily tasks and

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you completely agree that clean water should be available to every household without charge. You give relevant reasons, including water’s role in hygiene and the health risks of contaminated supplies, and support them with examples. However, the response develops the health argument more fully than the central question of whether the supply should be free. For instance, the example about a person who cannot wash regularly illustrates the need for access, but does not explain why the service should be funded at no cost. The conclusion also ends mid-sentence, leaving the final point incomplete. Explain who should provide or pay for the supply and develop the consequences of free access to address the proposal more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting different reasons, and a concluding section. The paragraphs generally focus on hygiene and health respectively, which helps the reader follow the main argument. Basic links such as “For instance,” “For example,” and “In conclusion” make relationships between ideas clear, though the transitions can feel mechanical. Some ideas could be connected more explicitly: the first paragraph moves from daily tasks to a financially struggling person, while the second shifts from the body’s water content to purification and kidney disease. The conclusion is not completed, which weakens the sense of closure. Use clearer topic sentences and link each example directly back to the claim that household water should be free.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “contaminated water,” “safety standards,” “hygiene,” and “kidney diseases.” However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which can make the writing less natural. For example, “supplied water in returns for no profit” does not clearly express free provision; “basic level of hygene” is imprecise; and “stink” is too informal for this essay. Spelling errors such as “necassary,” “hyegine,” and “Therefor” are also noticeable. Aim for precise, formal expressions and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated uses of “water” with suitable references can also improve variety without sacrificing clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “If there is no water supply … then its impossible” and a relative clause in “a financially struggling person, who…”. The main ideas are usually understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. Examples include “require to shower,” which needs a subject or a different construction, and “the water a human drink,” where the verb form does not agree with its subject. The final sentence is incomplete, and punctuation around the kidney example makes the relationship between clauses unclear. Work on subject–verb agreement, complete sentence boundaries, and accurate clause construction. These improvements would make your argument easier to read while preserving the range of structures you are already attempting.
