Student answer (Band 6.0)
i completely agree that clean water is a basic human right and should be available to every houshhold free of charge. water is necessary for human survival and eceryone should have access to it regardless of their financial situation.
first of all , water is essential for our drinking , cooking , bathing and claening their homes. without clean water , pepole may suffer from serious health problem. for example, in some poor areas , pepole have to drink dirty water because they cannot afford a proper water because they cannot afford a proper water supply. as as reuslt, they may suffer from diseses. therefore, the government should provide clean water to every home without cgharging money.
secondiy, free water can help poor familes reduce their financial presuure. many families already struggle to pay for food, education and electricity. if they also have to pay for water, thieir financial problems may become worse. for instance, low - income families can use their limited money to buy healthy food and pay for their childrens education if water is provided free of charge. this would impential resourove their qulity of life.
however, some people argue that providing free water to everyone could increase the governments expenses. i believe that the government can manage this problem by collecting taxes and using public funds properly. moreover people should be encouraged to save water and avoid wasting it .
in conclusion, i strongly believe that every houshold should receive celan water free to charge becuase it is necessary for good health and a better life. the government should make sure that everyone can access this essrntial resource, especiall poor people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening—“i completely agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address the central issue with relevant reasons: clean water protects health, while free provision could ease pressure on low-income families. The examples about illness from unsafe water and families redirecting money to food and education help support these points. You also acknowledge the counterargument about government expenses and offer taxation and public funds as a response. This covers the task well, but some reasoning is general: the funding response is asserted rather than explained, and the benefits of free access could be developed with more specific detail. More precise explanation of how universal provision would work would strengthen the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a counterargument, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “first of all,” “secondiy,” “however,” and “in conclusion” make the stages easy to follow, and the main ideas progress logically. However, cohesion sometimes feels mechanical because paragraphs rely heavily on these signposts rather than linking ideas through clear reference and explanation. Some connections are also unclear, as in “because they cannot afford a proper water because they cannot afford a proper water supply,” where repetition interrupts the flow. Develop each paragraph around one central point, remove repeated wording, and use pronouns or linking phrases to show how each example supports the claim.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main argument, including “basic human right,” “financial pressure,” “public funds,” and “essential resource.” These choices suit the subject, and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and several spelling errors or inaccurate word forms are noticeable, including “houshhold,” “diseses,” “presuure,” and “essrntial.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “proper water” and “impential resourove their qulity of life.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause to interpret the message. Proofread carefully and build a bank of accurate collocations for health, public services, and household costs.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if they also have to pay for water, their financial problems may become worse” and a concession introduced by “however.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the overall meaning is usually clear. However, there are some errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “water is essential for our drinking, cooking, bathing and claening their homes” shifts from “our” to “their,” while “without clean water, people may suffer from serious health problem” has a singular-plural mismatch. Capitalisation and spacing around punctuation are also inconsistent. Check agreement and pronoun consistency, and edit sentence boundaries and punctuation to improve accuracy.
