Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is undoubtedly ture that having the supply of clean water is the first baisc thing that a home should have. So, some people believe that supply of clean water should be provided without any charges. I strongly agree with this statement because of some suitable reasons which i will describe in this essay.

The very first reason to support my statement is water pollution. In many part of the country mainly the remote areas like villages and undeveloped cities are dealing with a major issue of dirty water. Big cities have a lot of factories who release their waste in rivers which mainly pollute the clean water. As a result people of these remote areas are not getting clean water. People of these areas are not so much rich that they can afford supply of clean water by private companies. In this situation only government can provide them supply of clean water without any charges.

The second most important reason to support my statement is natural disasters. In the northen part of india, floodes and drought happens very frequently and local people have to suffer a lot for basic things that are essential for living. One of the most important thing is water. So government should help the people with the important things like water supply that should be free because those people are already facing difficulties. So government should provide supply of clean water without any cost.

In conclusion, water is the basic thing for living. Every person should have clean water supply at their home. Many of the things are there which proves that water supply should be free of cost and even i have given reason for that.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you strongly agree that clean water should be supplied without charge, and the conclusion returns to this view. Both body paragraphs offer relevant reasons: unequal access to safe water in poorer areas and the hardship caused by disasters such as floods and droughts. These points address the question, but they are not developed equally or in enough detail. For example, the pollution paragraph explains why some communities cannot afford private supply, while the disaster paragraph mainly repeats that water is essential and should be free. To strengthen the response, explain how free household provision would work in ordinary circumstances and support each reason with a specific example or clearer explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two reason-based body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing is easy to follow, and signposts such as “The very first reason,” “The second most important reason” and “In conclusion” make the progression explicit. However, these transitions are somewhat mechanical, and repeated phrases such as “supply of clean water” and “without any charges/cost” make the links feel repetitive. Some references are also unclear: “these remote areas” follows a discussion of both villages and undeveloped cities, and “Many of the things are there” does not identify what those things are. Use more varied linking and make references precise, while ensuring each paragraph develops one distinct point.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “water pollution,” “factories,” “rivers,” “natural disasters,” “drought” and “private companies.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which is consistent with a noticeable effect on fluency. For instance, “the first basic thing” and “supply of clean water” are repeated, while “floodes” and “northen” contain spelling errors. “Undeveloped cities” is also an imprecise description of the places you mean. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for access, affordability and public provision, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would help express your argument without relying on repeated wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a result clause beginning “As a result” and a relative clause in “factories who release their waste.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in articles, agreement, plurals and sentence construction. Examples include “In many part” instead of a plural form, “One of the most important thing” instead of a plural noun, and “floodes and drought happens,” where the subject and verb do not agree. The opening also has an awkward construction: “having the supply of clean water.” Practise checking noun number and subject–verb agreement, and revise sentence patterns so complex clauses remain controlled. Greater accuracy across these structures would improve clarity.
