Student answer (Band 5.5)
Clean water is the basic necessity of human life. People need water to survive on this planet and therefor its access is vital for everyone. I totally agree with this statement and i will support my opinion in this essay with example.
First of all, water is the basic source of life on this earth people need water not only for survival but also for house chores for example a clean water is necessory for drinking and for cooking purpose therefor if it is not provided to every home it will make them suffer from multiple dreadful diseases like cholera and typhoid which ultimately leads to the death of people.
Secondly, availability of clean water to every house is essential for the support of public health and raise equality among people, for example people living in backward areas such as desserts there is no availability of water, people have to move out of their homes in the quest of clean water so that they can stay alive. And this quest has put the females in a burden because they have to travel long for water search, which is the basic need, which is to be provided at their door step for free .
On the other hand many people believe that clean water should not be given for free because it costs money time, transportation and machines which clean the water so people should pay some amount to the goverment so that it does not burdenised the economy.
In my opinion it should be supplied at every doorstep without any cost and for the management of expenses the goverment should utilize the tax of people along with some international support.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction and conclusion: you agree that clean water should be supplied to every home without charge. You address the main issue and give relevant reasons, including health risks such as cholera and typhoid, and the burden on women who must travel to collect water. The counterargument about treatment and transport costs also shows awareness of another perspective, and you respond with a funding proposal. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the link between free provision and equality could be developed with a specific example, and the proposed use of taxes and international support needs more detail. This covers the task well overall, while fuller development of some ideas would strengthen the response further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two supporting paragraphs, a counterargument, and a concluding position. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the main stages. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, with several sentences joined by “and” or “therefor,” and the second body paragraph contains a long chain of ideas that would be clearer if divided into shorter sentences. The reference in “which is the basic need” is also not fully clear. Use linking expressions more selectively, make pronoun references precise, and ensure each paragraph develops one central point in a clear progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “public health,” “dreadful diseases,” “availability,” and “international support,” so the reader can understand your main arguments. There are also attempts to use less common expressions, such as “in the quest of clean water,” although this phrasing is not natural in context. Noticeable spelling and word-choice errors—“therefor,” “necessory,” “desserts,” and “burdenised”—reduce accuracy, while repeated use of “basic” and “water” limits variety. Aim to learn accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise phrases such as “water-related diseases” and “the financial burden on the government” would make the argument sound more natural and controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure in “if it is not provided to every home it will make them suffer” and a relative clause in “which ultimately leads to the death of people.” These attempts help express cause and consequence, but sentence boundaries and punctuation are often inaccurate. For example, “water is the basic source of life on this earth people need water” joins two independent clauses without punctuation, and the long sentence beginning “Secondly” contains several clauses that are difficult to follow. There are also errors with articles, agreement, and sentence capitalization, such as “a clean water” and lowercase “i.” Practise separating clauses and checking agreement and articles to improve control.
