Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is ongoing debate on fresh water is a fundamental need of every humans it is accessable to all. Government should have to provide the water supply in every house with zero costs. I am completely disagree on this arguement because the free water supply, individuals start wasting the water it affects on economic and on enviroment because people start overuse of the water in every work whether they need or not.

To begin with, if Goverment start providing free water supply in every home they would face the different problem related to economically and environmentally. It badly affect on economy by providing the free of charge water individuals overusing the water by start washing their cars, lawns or start ignoring leakage pipelines. People who earn the high salaries they also start using the free supply for diverts the tax money from other vital public services.

In addition, zero cost of water supply it badly affect on the enviroment by wasting the water. When the population of country have free access of water they are not going to pay attention how much they are using, is this sufficient or not. When the humans get the free items they are not going to pay attention on they are just wasting of it and it damage badly on environment because the tree and plants are not getting sufficent water because just wasting the water drainage or sewers.

In conclusion, Government should have not to provide the free of cost water whether they are coming from any economical background. Because they all just going to waste the water it effects on economic structure and on environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you disagree with free household water, mainly because you believe it would encourage waste and harm public finances and the environment. The response addresses the question and gives relevant examples, such as washing cars and lawns and ignoring leaking pipes. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that free water would divert tax money from other services needs a clearer link to how household water provision is funded. The environmental point about trees and plants receiving insufficient water is also unclear and does not directly explain the effects of household overuse. Develop these ideas with more precise reasoning and a specific example, and briefly acknowledge why access to water as a human right matters.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The progression from economic concerns to environmental concerns is logical, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main points. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and several sentences repeat the idea that people waste water when it is free. Some links between ideas are also unclear: the discussion of tax money appears abruptly, while the sentence about trees and plants does not clearly follow from the preceding explanation. Use pronouns and linking phrases more precisely, reduce repetition, and make each paragraph develop one central point through a clear sequence of explanation and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main argument, including “water supply,” “public services,” “leakage pipelines,” and “environment.” There are also attempts at more formal expressions, such as “fundamental need” and “economic structure.” However, vocabulary errors and awkward collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “I am completely disagree,” “affect on economy,” “diverts the tax money,” and “wasting the water drainage or sewers.” Spelling errors such as “accessable,” “Goverment,” “arguement,” and “sufficent” also reduce accuracy. Build a reliable set of collocations for this topic and check spelling; choose precise phrases rather than translating expressions word for word.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if Government start providing…” and clauses beginning with “because” and “when.” This gives the response some structural variety. However, many sentences contain errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction, which can make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. For example, “I am completely disagree” needs a different verb form, while “the population of country have” has an agreement problem. The opening sentence also joins several ideas without a clear grammatical structure. Practise forming accurate subject–verb patterns and complete sentences, then check each clause for a clear subject and verb. Greater control of these patterns would make your reasoning easier to follow.
