Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent time, this topic is grabbing a lot of attention. Many believes access to clean water is a fundamental human right. So, the water supply in the every household should be provided totally free of cost. I believe that clean water is a basic human right. However, it doesn't mean that it should be free.
In every home the water supply should be provided with some charge on it because providing free water supply to home could lead to many problems. For example, in a city if the government gives free water supply to the people of the city, people would not think about the water resources and their value and waste the water as much they want because they don't know the actual worth of it. As a result it would lead to shortage of water supply in the city and drought.
In a city, where government provides water supply with some charge on it and limited supply of water in a day. This would lead to know the importance of water as water is the most essential resource for humans. And by practising this we can reduce the water pollution and a suitable management for water supply.
To conclude, Water is a natural resource and every living being have a right to consume it but if we are using it totally free then we are not going to know about the actual importance of it and when we know. That would too late, so after sorry it always a great idea to know the importance before its to late.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you agree that clean water is a human right but disagree that household supply should be free. You give relevant reasons, especially that free access could encourage waste and contribute to shortages, and you explain that charging for a limited supply may encourage conservation. However, some points are less fully developed. For example, the claim that charging for water can reduce water pollution is introduced without explaining how the two are connected. The conclusion repeats the importance of water but does not clearly weigh the argument or distinguish access to a basic amount from charging for excessive use. Develop this distinction and support each main reason with a clearer explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the main argument can generally be followed. Linking phrases such as “For example,” “As a result” and “To conclude” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is sometimes weakened by unclear or mechanical connections. The sentence beginning “In a city, where government provides…” is a fragment, and “And by practising this…” does not clearly connect to the preceding point. The conclusion’s “and when we know. That would too late” also interrupts the flow. Make each paragraph develop one clear point, use pronouns with unmistakable references, and connect cause and effect in complete sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “fundamental human right,” “water resources,” “shortage” and “essential resource,” so the reader can understand the central argument. However, the range is limited and several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “in recent time,” “grabbing a lot of attention,” “free water supply to home” and “after sorry.” Repetition of “water supply,” “importance” and “free” also limits flexibility. Aim for more accurate collocations and vary repeated terms—for instance, refer to “household water provision” or “conserving water” where appropriate. Check word forms and spelling as well, including “every living being” and “its too late,” so the intended meaning is expressed naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if the government gives free water supply… people would not think” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” These attempts show some range, but errors in sentence formation and agreement are frequent enough to make parts of the response difficult to follow. Examples include “Many believes,” “in the every household,” and “every living being have.” The sentence “In a city, where government provides…” is incomplete, while “That would too late” is missing a verb. There are also punctuation problems, such as separating “when we know” from its main clause. Practise subject–verb agreement, articles and complete clause structures, then proofread sentence boundaries.
