Student answer (Band 5.5)
Access to drinkable fresh water is a basic human right and every household should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. I completely agree with this statement, as water is a basic need for human beings. People living in slums and rural area struggle everyday for fresh water and often die of dehydration or poor hygiene.
Water is a basic need and essential for everyday activities and people often pay for water to be supplied to thier home. But people with finacially poor background can not affoard to pay and are often drinking or using water which is not clean. This leads to people suffering form multiple health issues. For example, people in india have to stand in long lines in sun for just one bucket of water which barely lasts them 2 days. While in urban places people watse mugs of water without thinking. Therefore, if provided proper water supply to every household people will not suffer any health problems related to water.
In addition, water is not just essential for drinking it is also crucial for cooking and maintaning basic hygiene. However, having to struggle everyday for drinking water is not fair because water is most crucial to survive hence, basic a human need. If provied proper water to every home, people will regularly clean themseleves as a result it lowers the risk of harmful infections caused by unhygienic habits.
In conclution, Regularly providing water to every home without charging any fee is important, as it helps people survive and maintain good health.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: “I completely agree,” and the response gives relevant reasons about access to drinking water, health, cooking and hygiene. The example of people in India waiting for water helps illustrate unequal access, although the comparison with urban water waste is not developed enough to show how free household supply would address the problem. The hygiene point is also relevant but would benefit from a more specific explanation or example. The response does not fully meet the task’s development expectations, and it is 247 words, three words below the 250-word minimum; 11 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Extend one or two supporting ideas rather than adding repetition.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking expressions such as “For example,” “In addition,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main points. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The sentence beginning “Therefore, if provided proper water supply” does not clearly explain how the preceding contrast leads to the claim about health, and “However” in the third paragraph introduces a contrast that is not fully established. The conclusion is brief and repeats the central claim rather than drawing together the two reasons. Make the relationship between each example and its paragraph’s main idea more explicit, and use referencing and transitions more precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “dehydration,” “hygiene,” “health issues,” and “infections.” These terms suit the subject, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is somewhat limited, with repeated use of “basic,” “water,” and “people,” and several inaccurate word choices or collocations reduce precision. For example, “provided proper water supply” is not a natural phrasing, while “water to be supplied to their home” could be expressed more directly. Spelling errors such as “finacially,” “affoard,” and “conclution” are also noticeable. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for discussing affordability, access and public provision, and proofread spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple sentences and longer structures, including a conditional sentence (“if provided proper water supply to every household…”) and a result clause (“as a result it lowers the risk…”). This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message remains understandable. However, some sentence patterns are incomplete or awkwardly formed. For instance, “if provided proper water supply” needs a clear subject and article, and “because water is most crucial to survive hence, basic a human need” combines clauses without a sound grammatical connection. There are also errors in agreement and sentence punctuation, such as “people… struggle” and the capitalisation of “Regularly” after a comma. Practise forming complete conditional and cause-and-effect sentences, then check articles, agreement and punctuation.
