Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is important to notice that water is indispensable in human lives, while accessing to clean water sometimes require charge. I agree with this view because as a human it is our right to have water for free.
To survive we need water in various ways, from drinking to cooking; however, it is undeniable that to access this necessary item we have to pay sometimes. In village, there are shortage of water sources because of global changes, water level decreasing day by day. Therefore, it is getting challenging for them to get clean water. As a result, they have to manage it in costly way to get clean water. For example, they have to set-up a powerful pump, to get access to deep of the ground. In metropolis area, some poverty-stricken area suffers from water shortage. Owing to this their daily activities is getting interrupted, which is affecting their psychological well-being.
On the other hand, to ensure proper access to clean water, governments should take necessary steps. Firstly, by providing incentives on fresh water supply from state fundings, may alleviate individuals suffering. Secondly, promoting campaign about saving-water can influence people from wasting water unnecessarily. Thirdly, states may introduce several water booths, from where people can get access to fresh water.
In conclusion, water is a common necessary item for us. Accessing to free water is not luxary for us, it is necessary. To access a fair item, it is impractical to pay for it. I believe access of free water in every households must necessary.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you agree that access to water should be free, and you discuss both the importance of water and the difficulties people face obtaining it. The examples of rural households needing pumps and poorer urban areas experiencing shortages are relevant. However, the response only partly develops the central claim that every home should receive a free supply. The proposed government measures—funding, awareness campaigns and water booths—are listed, but you do not explain how they would ensure a reliable household supply or how the costs should be met. The point that paying for a “fair item” is impractical is also unclear. Develop the reasoning behind your position and connect each example more directly to free household provision.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Transitions such as “however,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal changes in direction, and the examples generally follow the points they illustrate. However, the progression is not always clear: the first body paragraph moves from water’s uses to rural shortages and then urban poverty without a clear linking explanation. The second paragraph presents three measures as a list, rather than developing a connected argument. Some references are also vague, such as “this” in “Owing to this,” which makes the cause less precise. Use clearer topic sentences and explain how each supporting point advances your argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “water shortage,” “water sources,” “psychological well-being” and “incentives,” and these choices show an attempt to discuss the issue beyond basic terms. However, the range is limited by repeated use of “water,” “access” and “necessary,” while several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear. For example, “accessing to clean water,” “in costly way,” “state fundings” and “a fair item” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “luxary.” Aim for more precise phrases and check common collocations; this will make your argument easier to follow and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “because,” “while” and “which.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message is usually understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction occur often enough to make some sentences awkward. For instance, “water sometimes require charge” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “some poverty-stricken area suffers” has a number mismatch. In “by providing incentives …, may alleviate,” the sentence lacks a clear grammatical subject. The conclusion, “must necessary,” is also incomplete in form. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, then review agreement and article use.
