Student answer (Band 6.0)

Availability of pure fresh water is a usual human right, Due to this each home in country should have a clean water supply that is provided free of charge. In my opinion this statement is half correct but when they say it should be free I don't support this reason is wastage.

On one hand, fresh clean aqua should be delivered in every domicile because as a part of taxpayer it their right to get basic facility from government. Water is a daily use of life cleaning, drinking, cooking, and planting as well. Water is the very important as it decides your healthy as well. If people drink dirty water they attracted to sickness faster.

On the other hand, word free should not refer to water because when people get free water they might use it as in unresponsible way and don't pay any attention in leakage once they know that they have to pay for every drop people will respect and use it wisely, So water should be clean and accessible but not free. However water can be free for the places like Hospitals, Schools, Welfare, and in animals shelters. because this is the place government should contribute and offer them best of the country and by offering best quality drops of water patient can get fit faster, children in school have a good water to drink, welfare and animals have a opportunity to get purity to drink.

As has been demonstrated, Water should be accessible, should be pure and fresh, and entire country can get it easily but although it should be charged minimal to create a importance and people avoid it to waste. but water ought to free for hospitals, school, welfare, and animals shelter.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both the right to clean water and whether it should be free, and your position is identifiable: you support universal access but oppose completely free provision, favouring a minimal charge. The reasons about health, taxpayers’ rights and possible waste are relevant. Your conclusion also restates your position. This meets the task well, with some elements developed more fully than others: the health point is explained, but the claim that payment prevents waste is asserted rather than supported with a concrete example or explanation. The exceptions for hospitals, schools, welfare services and animal shelters are relevant but take space without being clearly connected to your main argument. To strengthen the response further, develop the central case with a specific example and clarify how a minimal charge can protect access for households unable to pay.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. The signposts “On one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the opposing considerations, and the final paragraph returns to your position. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “As has been demonstrated” introduces a conclusion that repeats earlier points, while the long sentence beginning “However water can be free” combines several different groups and explanations. The relationship between the taxpayer argument and the later proposal to charge for water could also be made more explicit. Use clearer topic sentences, divide long passages into focused sentences, and use pronouns or linking phrases with precise references to improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “basic facility,” “leakage,” “accessible” and “minimal,” and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “usual human right” does not convey the intended meaning, “aqua” is unsuitable in this context, and “as in unresponsible way” is not idiomatic. There is also repetition of “water,” “free” and “good,” and phrases such as “best of the country” are unclear. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main argument, but they make parts of it harder to follow. Aim for natural collocations and precise topic vocabulary, such as “access to safe drinking water” and “use water responsibly.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “when people get free water they might use it…” and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, control is uneven, and errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles and verb forms sometimes make the meaning difficult to process. For example, “it their right” is missing a verb, “they attracted to sickness” has an incorrect verb construction, and the sentence beginning “On the other hand” runs several clauses together with inconsistent punctuation. Capitalisation after commas and at the start of sentences is also unreliable. Practise building accurate sentences around one main idea, checking subject–verb agreement and articles, and using full stops to separate independent clauses.
