Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you partially agree, supporting free access for health and fairness while recognising costs and waste. You address both sides and return to your view in the conclusion, so the response covers the task. The health argument is supported with examples such as using water for cooking and cleaning, and you explain why poorer households may benefit. However, the case for charging is less fully developed: the need to fund repairs and the risk of excessive use are asserted, but specific explanation or an example would make them more convincing. The conclusion also introduces reasonable charges without clearly explaining how this would preserve access as a basic right. Develop that balance more precisely to strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. The progression from health and affordability to government costs and conservation is generally logical, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “However,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument. At times, though, linking is mechanical or the relationship between ideas is unclear. For example, “without society, government not able to collect huge amount” does not clearly explain the connection between payment and repair costs. Several sentences also join multiple points with repeated “and” or “so,” making the paragraph harder to navigate. Use clearer sentence boundaries and refer back explicitly to the relevant idea when explaining consequences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “waterborne diseases,” “economically disadvantaged,” “inequality,” and “water shortage.” These choices show an effort to express more than basic ideas. However, word choice, spelling, and collocation errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning difficult to interpret. Examples include “a basic necessarity,” “have accessible to water supply,” “impoverised,” and “increase authority burden.” Some expressions appear to be direct translations rather than natural English, such as “For elaborate” and “a thing that use in every activities.” Build accuracy by learning common topic collocations and checking word forms and spelling. Prefer precise, natural phrases such as “access to a water supply,” “fund maintenance,” and “place a burden on the authorities.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional and contrast structures: “If people utilise low quality water…” and “Although free of water supply helps…”. This gives the essay some structural variety. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction recur. For instance, “Government ought to provide water supply” lacks an article, while “they can improve their quality of life and reduce inequality” follows an unclear subject reference. “If people do not pay fair for water supply” also has an incomplete grammatical pattern. These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise building accurate clauses with clear subjects and verbs, and check articles and agreement before adding further complexity.
