Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, access to clean water has become a widely discussed issue, while some people are agree that clean water is a basic human right but few people believe its should not be access to all. I'm agree that every human have basic right to access clean water but not for those who waste the water for them they need to set some fines.
One major point to consider is that every home should get a clean water free of charge. This is primarily because of clean water people will not get effected form diseases. Consequently, for this most of the poor families will get the clean water, and at the home water is required in the many things like cleaning, washing and in the cooking. For instance it will be the big effect for the low income families to afford the clean water.
On the other hand, if we provide the water free of charge to everyone there will be lot of people who will waste, for example washing the cars, and wasting the waters. Primarly then access to the clean water will be limited to only financially strong people.
In conclusion, access to the clean water free of charge has both positive and negative aspects. However i believe that water should be free of charge because most of the people are not strong financially strong to afford and when they will not get the clean water there will be a lot of diseases. But also government should set some guidelines and policies for the use of the water so people use properly

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You give a clear overall view that water should be free, while adding that people who waste it should face penalties. You also address a relevant counterpoint: free provision could encourage waste, with car washing as an example. These points keep the response focused on the question. However, the position is not fully consistent: the opening says free access should not apply to people who waste water, while the conclusion supports free water for everyone and proposes guidelines. The reasons are also under-developed; for example, you mention disease prevention and affordability but do not explain how free provision would ensure safe water or how penalties could work. Clarify your position and extend each main reason with a specific explanation or example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph supporting free water, a counterargument and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Consequently,” “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal these stages. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and some connections feel mechanical or do not express the intended relationship. For instance, “Consequently, for this most of the poor families…” is difficult to follow, while the shift from free water causing waste to access being limited to financially strong people is not explained. The conclusion also repeats earlier points rather than bringing them together clearly. Use simpler, more precise links between cause and result, and organise each paragraph around one main idea followed by its explanation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “basic human right,” “clean water,” “low income families,” “diseases” and “guidelines and policies.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main subject and your general opinion. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts of the argument awkward, such as “effected form diseases,” “waste the waters” and “financially strong.” Repetition of “clean water” and “free of charge” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn common combinations such as “be affected by disease,” “waste water” and “afford a water supply,” and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would make your reasons easier to understand without changing your main ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional idea in “if we provide the water free of charge to everyone there will be lot of people who will waste.” This shows an effort to connect ideas rather than relying only on short statements. However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence construction occur throughout. Examples include “some people are agree,” “every human have,” “I'm agree,” and “there will be lot of people.” Some sentences are also difficult to follow because clauses are joined without clear grammatical structure, particularly in the opening and conclusion. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and article use, and build longer sentences from a clear main clause with one supporting clause. Proofreading for punctuation and sentence boundaries will also improve clarity.
