Student answer (Band 5.0)
Access to pure water is a basic human right. Therefore, every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge. In this essay, I will discuss the positive and negative consequences of clean water. Overall, I agree with this statement because without clean water, people face many dangerous diseases. Water supply should be free of cost for every individual.
Availability of pure water is a basic human need or right. Therefore, every home should have a water supply provided free of charge because it's the government's duty to provide safe, clean, purified water. It protects people from dangers like kidney diseases. It helps individuals maintain good gut health. In Addition, clean water intake is good for skin and hair. Water also helps to maintain oxygen levels in the brain.
On the other hand, dirty water has many side effects on humans because unhygienic water destroys gut health. Regularly drinking unhygienic water has effects on the kidneys that sometimes result in death. However, every home should have the right to a clean water supply that is provided by the government free of charge because people pay huge amounts of taxes. So it's a government responsibility to take care of humanity.
In conclusion, I believe that clean water is a basic human right without clean water, humanity's future will be destroyed because it snatches people's lives through illnesses like kidney diseases. Whereas the government has the responsibility to provide clean water in every region of the country free of cost because it's also a basic human right to protect whole diversity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
Your position is clear in the introduction and conclusion: you agree that households should receive clean water free of charge. You give relevant reasons, including protection from illness and the government’s responsibility to use tax revenue for public services. However, the response only partially develops the argument: several health claims are listed, but they are not explained or supported with a specific example, and the opening promises to discuss both positive and negative consequences without developing a balanced discussion. The response is 233 words, so it is 17 words below the 250-word minimum; 29 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop one or two reasons with clearer explanation and an example to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the main position is generally easy to identify. Paragraphs also group related points, such as the benefits of clean water and the harms of contaminated water. However, progression is limited because ideas are often repeated rather than built on: the claim that water should be free appears in several paragraphs, while the health points are presented as a list. The transition “On the other hand” suggests a contrasting argument, but the paragraph mainly reinforces your position. Use clearer links between each reason and its explanation, and avoid repeating the same claim in the conclusion and body.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “basic human right,” “purified water,” “kidney diseases,” “gut health” and “government responsibility.” These choices make the subject clear, and some phrases show an attempt to use more specific language. However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “clean water,” “free of charge” and “unhygienic water.” Some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, including “it snatches people’s lives” and “protect whole diversity,” which make the intended meaning less clear. Aim for more precise collocations and vary repeated terms; for example, explain the public-health consequences rather than relying on broad claims about diseases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use mostly straightforward sentence patterns and attempt some longer sentences with “because” and “that,” as in “dirty water has many side effects on humans because…” This gives the response some structural variety, but complex sentences are not consistently controlled. The conclusion contains a run-on sentence: “clean water is a basic human right without clean water, humanity’s future will be destroyed,” where the ideas need to be separated or joined with appropriate punctuation. There are also awkward constructions, such as “Regularly drinking unhygienic water has effects on the kidneys that sometimes result in death,” where the reference of “that” is unclear. Practise combining clauses accurately and checking punctuation and reference.
