Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that government should make clean water affordable or free, especially for people on lower incomes. You address both the benefits of access and the concern that free provision could encourage waste, and the points about waterborne illness and household costs are relevant. However, the response does not fully resolve the task’s specific proposal that every home receive a free supply: at times you argue for reduced costs or free installation instead. The claim that free water may lead to waste is also introduced but not explained or balanced against possible safeguards. Develop this concern and support your main reasons with a clearer example to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs signposted by “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This gives the reader an overall route through your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first body paragraph moves from water as a basic need to disease, rights, food, and sustainable development without clearly connecting each point. Some linking phrases are also awkward or unclear, such as “However treating water as fundamental rights” and “By, cleaning purifier line.” Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, then explain and illustrate it in a logical order. Clearer referencing and fewer mechanical transitions would improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt relevant topic vocabulary, including “waterborne diseases,” “fundamental rights,” “sustainable development,” and “human dignity.” These choices show an effort to discuss the issue beyond basic everyday language. However, the range is limited by repeated general terms such as “basic,” “people,” and “free,” while several inaccurate word choices or collocations make meaning less clear—for example, “free installation” does not clearly express a free household water supply, and “increases the positivity towards government” is unnatural. Spelling errors such as “distrubed,” “buiseness,” and “devlopment” are also noticeable. Focus on accurate collocations and check spelling; precise wording will make your ideas easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use some attempts at complex structures, including “that can afford by lower income people” and “that makes interest for their work,” as well as a contrast between the two body paragraphs. However, these structures are often faulty, and sentence boundaries and punctuation are not consistently controlled. For example, “Water is basic needs for drinking, cooking, and maintaining hygiene” has problems with agreement and sentence structure, while “it affect for sustainable development” does not form a clear grammatical relationship. There are also errors with articles, plurals, and verb forms, as in “every families” and “government should provide.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with clauses using “because,” “which,” and “although.”
