Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, many people believe that access to clean water is a human right and it should be available to everyone without any cost while others including the people who governs our country think that it just available only to the specific points just like filters in different corners of the societies or towns.

In recent years, the issue of access to clean water has become a matter of debate.

I completely agree with this statement because it’s a basic human need and clean water protect us from catching different diseases and free of cost access will be help the person who can’t afford it.

Protection from diseases:

To begin with, the main reason why I agree is that if the water is contagious it will cause illness to most of the children and elderly person with weak immunity. For example viral diseases or diarrhoea.

Therefore, clean water is mandatory and I should be available to everyone so we can save lives and health of the people.

Affordability:

Another important reason is that water should be free of cost.

Explanation

As a result, the poor individuals of our society will have access to it and they will not drink water with bacteria’s and germs. In our surrounding, there are so many individuals who have access to dirty water but they just drank it because they don’t have to pay for it. They saved there money to spend it on there food and other necessary things. Thus, their children become ill and they don’t pay attention to root cause.

In conclusion, I agree that clean and free of charge water should be accessible to everyone to prevent disease and burden of cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you completely agree that clean water should be free, and you give two relevant reasons—preventing illness and helping people who cannot afford safe water. The examples about children and older people, and poorer households choosing dirty water, support the topic. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because the reasons are asserted more than developed. The first point gives only brief examples of illness, while the affordability paragraph contains an unclear claim about people having access to dirty water because they “don’t have to pay for it.” Explain the situation more precisely and show how free household provision would solve it. A brief acknowledgement of costs or how governments could fund supply would also make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two reason sections and a conclusion. The position is easy to identify, and phrases such as “To begin with,” “Another important reason” and “In conclusion” signal the main stages. However, progression within the body paragraphs is uneven, and the standalone headings “Protection from diseases” and “Affordability,” followed by “Explanation,” interrupt the flow rather than linking ideas. Some connections are unclear, particularly the sequence about poor people drinking dirty water, saving money and their children becoming ill. Use complete topic sentences and connect each explanation directly to its supporting example. Clearer paragraph development and more precise referencing would make the organisation easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “human right,” “clean water,” “diseases,” “bacteria” and “germs,” so the reader can understand the subject and your main reasons. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “if the water is contagious” does not express the idea of contaminated water, and “free of cost access” is unnatural. “The people who governs our country” and “in our surrounding” also show imprecise phrasing. Aim for accurate, natural expressions such as “contaminated water,” “free access to water” and “in our community,” and avoid repeating “water” and “free” when a more precise phrase is available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a conditional structure beginning “if the water…” and a reason clause with “because.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction. Examples include “clean water protect us,” “it should available,” “will be help,” and “the people who governs.” The sentence beginning “In our surrounding” also shifts awkwardly between present and past forms (“have access,” “drank,” “saved”). These errors can make relationships between ideas harder to understand. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and keeping verb forms consistent, and build complex sentences carefully before adding further clauses.
