Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is undeniable that water is the the prime neccesity in human life as oxygen. The use of fresh water is a proper human right hence government should provide water supply with free of cost for evry home. I totally disagree with the given statement and will analyse reasons.

Advoacting the thought as firstly, large amount of funds spends to build the infrastructure of water supply in cities as well as purifying it to safe standard, miles of underground pipes used therefore it is neccessary to collect taxes of water from individuals. Secondly, if cost of water is free people will use it in large amount for non-essential purposes so, that thing can motivate citizens for less use of water leading to reduce water pollution.

For instance, in the developed nations law makers charged for excessive use of water due to the low availablity of it which resultant in to fulfill requirement of water for daily purposes.

On the other hand, some crucial points are contribute to supply water with free of cost as, it is a biological necessity for drinking, cooking and sanitation not a luxury good. However, poor people can't afford that filter water which encourage them to drink unhealthy water consequently it will create poor hygiene and waterborne disease like cholera or typhoid.

To conclude, undoubtedly providng free water to humans for daily purposes is good but imposing of few charges on high uses of water to could be effective to some extent.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You present a relevant position by saying you disagree with free water for every home, and you give reasons about infrastructure costs, excessive use, and the needs of poorer households. However, the position becomes unclear: the conclusion supports free water for daily purposes while also endorsing charges for high use, which is closer to a qualified position than the opening statement. The arguments are also under-developed; for example, the claim that charging for water reduces pollution is not explained, and the example about developed nations is general rather than specific. The response is four words below the required minimum. To strengthen the response, state clearly whether basic household water should be free and explain how any proposed charges would work.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, arguments against free provision, a counterpoint, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “On the other hand” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression is not consistently clear: the opening says you “totally disagree,” while the final paragraph supports free water for daily purposes, so the reader must reconcile conflicting positions. Some links are also awkward or unclear, particularly “so, that thing can motivate citizens” and the transition into the example. Use each paragraph to develop one clear point, connect the example directly to that point, and make the conclusion reflect the same position as the introduction.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “infrastructure,” “sanitation,” “biological necessity,” and “waterborne disease.” These choices show an effort to discuss costs, public health, and water use rather than relying only on basic terms. However, inaccurate spelling and collocation are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less clear: examples include “neccesity,” “availablity,” “charged for excessive use,” and “with free of cost.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “that thing” and “low availability of it.” Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking spelling, and choose precise expressions such as “charge households for excessive consumption” or “limited water supplies.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea about what might happen if water were free and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships difficult to follow. For example, “large amount of funds spends” lacks a correct subject–verb construction, while “poor people can't afford that filter water” has an unclear grammatical structure. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “water supply in cities as well as purifying it to safe standard.” Practise building accurate clauses first, then combine them with clear conjunctions; proofread for complete sentences and consistent agreement.
