Student answer (Band 5.5)

The water is the basic need in every daily life and it is a human right to have water, But some countries provide it free of cost and some countries collects the taxes for water.

In some countries the water is provided for free of cost such as India. In India the water supply to every household is free and the private water tanks also available in India but takes less charges compared to other countries. In India the water purification plants that purifies the river (drinkable water) water into more suitable and TDS controlled water are suppiled through pipeline network across the city. Which can be used for house hold needs and also for drinking water.

In other majority of countries the water is provided with charges even for the household water also the authorities collects taxes. For example China, Germany and other conturies collect charges for the supply of water, But some people can't effort the taxes and some countries take higher charges.

I support the statement that every country should provide clean water for free of charge, because alot of people dead with dehydration in some poor countries.

In conclusion, i would say that the desaltastion process which means converting ocean water into drinkable water with the help of new technology if governments provide free or less charged water it will be a great initiative and also using less water for home chores and saving water is also helps to provide water to some of the needy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear position in favour of free clean water, especially in “I support the statement,” and you include examples of water provision in India and charges in other countries. These points are relevant, but the response only partly develops the central question of whether every home should receive water free of charge. The comparison between countries is mostly descriptive, and the claim that people die from dehydration is not explained or supported. The final point about desalination and saving water introduces useful considerations, but its connection to who should pay is unclear. To strengthen the response, explain the benefits and costs of free household supply, and develop one or two examples to show why your position is justified.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, paragraphs about India and other countries, a statement of your position, and a conclusion. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, progression is uneven because your position appears only after the country examples, and the final paragraph combines desalination, government pricing, household water use, and helping people in need without clearly linking them. Some connections are also awkward or unclear, such as “In other majority of countries” and the transition from the examples to the claim about deaths from dehydration. Use topic sentences to signal each paragraph’s purpose, and connect examples explicitly to your argument with clear cause-and-effect links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “water supply,” “household,” “taxes,” “purification plants,” and “desalination,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, sometimes making meaning less clear. For example, “free of cost” is repeated, “collect charges” is less natural than a standard expression for billing, and “people dead with dehydration” does not express the intended idea accurately. There are also spelling errors such as “suppiled,” “conturies,” and “desaltastion.” Aim to use precise phrases for water treatment, affordability, and public funding, and check spelling carefully so your relevant vocabulary is communicated clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “some countries collects the taxes” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “the water purification plants that purifies” also has incorrect agreement and an unclear sentence boundary before “Which can be used.” The final sentence beginning “if governments provide” contains several ideas joined without a clear grammatical structure. Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable, as in “But” after a comma and “i” in the conclusion. Practise building accurate sentences around one main idea, checking subject–verb agreement, and using full stops to separate complete thoughts before attempting longer structures.
