Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is frequently debated whether fresh clean water should be accessible by everyone without paying for it or people should buy the clean water for their daily necessities. Although charging for clean water can cover the cost of processing and purifying water, I firmly believe that it should be provided free of charge to the general public.
On the one hand, sanitized water is different from the water found in sources of because of water pollutiona and it need to be purified before use. Charging money to cover up the processing, purification and distribution costs, from source of water to the people's home, is a relevant clause. For instance, companies have to intall waterways, process it , purify it and distribute it to make it suitable for drinking, washing and other daily life purposes. So people have to compensate the organization who serves this purpose. By doing so, the organization can remunerate its staffs and assistinig organizations.
On the other hand, clean water is the basic human right. Mother nature has provided us with sufficient water sources so that all animals can meet their needs. Charging amount of money for the water, which is already free in nature, is not relevant. Although there are charges involved in water distribution, water purification, I believe that these hidden charges should be fulfilled by the government. Because citizens are paying taxes, government should use a portion of the annual budget to supply clean water to the public.
In conclusion, while there are cost involved in the processing and distribution of water, I agree to that clean water should be provided to the residents free of cost. I believe that government should provide clean water to its citizens free of charge for the benefits of its public.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: although you recognise the costs of treating and delivering water, you believe households should receive it free, with the government covering those costs. You address both sides and give a relevant example of the work water companies perform. This meets the task well, and the argument shows some development beyond simply stating an opinion. However, the case for free provision is less fully supported: the claim that water is “already free in nature” does not address the costs of making it safe and delivering it, and the role of taxes is asserted rather than illustrated. Develop this reasoning with a specific example or explain how free access could be funded while maintaining reliable services.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs, and a conclusion. “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” make the shift between arguments easy to follow, and the conclusion returns to your position. Cohesion is less successful within some sentences, where ideas are joined mechanically or the reference is unclear. For example, “So people have to compensate the organization” follows a list of company activities but does not clearly distinguish payment for the service from the argument for free household access. The sentence beginning “Because citizens are paying taxes” is also attached awkwardly to the preceding point. Use clearer links between claims and explanations, and vary transitions rather than relying mainly on set phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “purification,” “distribution,” “daily necessities,” and “annual budget,” and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “sanitized water” is not the usual term here, “cover up the processing” suggests concealment, and “remunerate its staffs” is awkward. There are also spelling and word-form errors, such as “intall” and “assistinig,” alongside the corrupted phrase “sources of because of water pollutiona.” These do not prevent the main argument from being understood, but they make parts less fluent. Prefer standard topic collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concession in “Although charging for clean water can cover the cost…” and a conditional-purpose construction with “so that all animals can meet their needs.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems reduce accuracy. For example, “it need to be purified” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “Because citizens are paying taxes, government should…” needs an article before “government.” The final sentence, “I agree to that clean water should be provided,” uses an incorrect grammatical pattern. Commas and spacing are also inconsistent, particularly around lists. Review agreement, articles, and verb patterns, then proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation.
